Weldon blasts Sestak’s ties with fired CIA senior analyst (Able Danger?)
Delaware County Daily Times ^ | 4/23/06 | WILLIAM BENDER

The senior intelligence analyst who was fired Thursday by the CIA is a supporter of Democratic congressional candidate Joseph Sestak, which U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon’s campaign charged is further evidence that the former Navy admiral cannot be trusted on national security issues.

Mary McCarthy was dismissed for leaking classified information about the CIA’s secret overseas prisons to The Washington Post, several media organizations reported Saturday.

Sestak, who served as director for defense policy on Bill Clinton’s National Security Council, received two donations from McCarthy last month totaling $350. McCarthy also contributed $2,000 to Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign.

Weldon’s campaign reiterated that Sestak accepted contributions from former Clinton National Security Adviser Samuel "Sandy" Berger and former CIA Director John Deutch -- both of whom have admitted to mishandling classified information.

"‘Where will this end?" asked Weldon campaign spokesman Michael Puppio. "Sestak and the Clinton people are attempting to infect Delaware County with these scandals."

Berger, who last month hosted a Washington fund-raiser for Sestak and contributed $1,000 to his campaign, pleaded guilty last year to a misdemeanor charge of removing and destroying classified material from the National Archives.

Deutch was pardoned by Clinton in 2001 for storing classified intelligence reports on personal computers linked to the Internet. He gave $500 to Sestak’s campaign.

"The guy is in the campaign 2½ months and he’s got contributors who are national criminals and the scandal is following him," Puppio said of Sestak. "Now," he added, "a fired CIA employee who may face criminal charges as a result of this also gave" to the Democrat’s campaign.

Sestak campaign spokeswoman Allison Price said Weldon’s "silly" attacks and "conspiracy theories" are signs that he is desperate to hold on to his seat.

"Joe is an extremely strong candidate. He was a three-star admiral. Of course Weldon is going to throw anything at the wall and see what sticks," she said.

Price said Sestak stands by his former colleagues in the Clinton administration and is proud of the work they accomplished in the 1990s. "These are people that know Joe and support Joe and know that he is capable," she said.

McCarthy, who was reportedly serving in the CIA’s inspector general’s office at the time of her firing, was appointed by Berger in 1998 as special assistant to the president and senior director for intelligence programs.

Weldon officials also suspect McCarthy leaked information to the media last year in an attempt to debunk the congressman’s book, "Countdown to Terror," which is highly critical of the CIA. Weldon plans to call for a FBI investigation "to see what national security information she leaked and who she leaked it to," Puppio said.

Sestak entered the 7th District race in February and is widely regarded as the strongest Democratic challenger Weldon has ever faced.

In some previous elections, the 10-term Republican hasn’t acknowledged his Democratic opponent. This year, however, his campaign has launched a full assault on Sestak, labeling him as a candidate who was "handpicked" by former Clinton officials to oust Weldon.

Sestak has previously told the Daily Times that no individual or organization asked him to run for Congress and that the decision was solely his own.

Dana Priest is the Washington Post reporter who won a Pullitzer for her intelligence reporting -- because of info from Mary McCarthy. Priest would also presumably be the reporter who would have covered Able Danger, which would have exposed the Clinton Administration's failure to prevent 9/11. Now her source is giving money to the Clintonites hand-picked opponent to defeat Weldon, who is pursuing Able Danger. Something sure doesn't smell right.

For more on the Clintonites lining up to help defeat weldon, read this post: (Clinton alumni giving to Sestak): http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1618849/posts

This is insane. Is there anyone McCarthy is not linked to in some tangible way? I am no conspiracy theorist, but all the hubs and spokes are giving me a headache. I hereby wish that someone makes a flow chart with all of these names. The morning talk shows today were a disappointment; once again FR is light years ahead of the media in developing this story.

A spy (or leaker) sending you a campaign contribution does not make you a spy or leaker. Still, it does look like a nest of Democrat vipers trying to undermine the Administration, doesn't it?

It's not a "theory" anymore.

McCarthy has donated a lot of money. Was it hers? Is she a money launderer?

Did she pay taxes on money passed to her for being donated to political campaigns?

I can't for the life of me understand how a career military man can throw in with the Dems. The Rat's track record is lower readiness and lower pay for the military. Their track record is inarguable.

The increasing revelations about the relationships which exist between these individuals is growing into a wider and wider pattern of dots which have one thing in common at the center - the Clintons.
It's starting to look like the charts that Time magazine and others were fond of publishing which showed the relationships between various members of Mafia crime families who had been identified by agents.
One might almost dare to call the emerging ring; "a vast left wing conspiracy" with smears and treason being it's tactics and political power being it's objective.
I take a back seat to no one in my contempt for the Clintons but BJ has impressed me with his unerring ability to identify and promote corrupt accomplices who have consistently shown a willingness to go to the wall for him and, in the McCarthy case, to agree to work as a mole until called upon to help destroy Bush and pave the way for Hitlery in 2008.
If anyone doubts the power and reach of this group, just remember that Jamie Gorlick found her way onto the 9/11 commission. How much influence do you think was exercised behind the scenes to pull that off?
I am beginning to sense a real threat from this ring and, with George Soros's billions behind them, they are a real and present danger.

Sestak was a protege of General Wesley Clark. This is a fact, not a theory.

Sestak was a look good rather than be good career man, a natural for a Dem. He had greater career aspirations, but the new CNO showed him the door. Again, a natural for the Dems.

Her husband's a "Landscape Architect". I would think that any reputable investigation would involve a thorough review of his client list ...

The first place I went looking for a flow chart was namebase.org. Unfortunately, the listed McCarthy was the author.

Namebase REALLY makes nice flow charts.

Conservatives have always pointed out the "incestous" relationship between the media and liberal organizations. If reporters are liberals, they are married to liberals, and in a large number opf cases, to liberal advocates. For some mysterious reason, this does not get reported in the MSM. ;-)
