I have frequently quoted segments of Scott McClellan's press briefings in this space. Mr. McClellan is a very kind and warm human being who did an extremely difficult job with grace and dignity. I will not pile on with the often genuinely idiotic comments posted on FreeRepublic about Mr. McClellan and others in this administration. Instead, I thank him for his service to the country and the President we both admire so much. I wish him only the very best as this chapter in his life comes to a close.
Regarding the truly churlish behavior exhibited with increasing frequency on FR, all I can say is this...I can never be on the Leftist team, but as to the examples of hate we see here from the "good" team, I'll keep this in mind:
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. [Proverbs 23:7].
And this...
Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him. [Ecclesiasticus (ch. IX, v. 10)]

PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Both the President and outgoing Press Secretary Scott McClellan were quite emotional when Scott announced his resignation last Wednesday. It is
extremely rare for a President to stand by the side of a member of his staff as that person announces his resignation. This gesture by GWB was an expression of the very high regard and affection he holds for Scott.

It's always a pleasure to see President Bush being greeted warmly by audience members after delivering a speech. This was after his speech on Wednesday at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Ala.

We don't have any photos of the President riding his mountain bike in California this weekend, so here's an oldie but a goodie: GWB riding with Lance Armstrong.

Sigh...time, the cruel master of us all. As we approach mid-year, we also approach the mark when George W. Bush will have just 2 1/2 years left in his presidency. He is already incrementally passing into history before our eyes.

Darn--I read the AP article about his ride today, and really wanted to see the pictures.
This is a good one too though!

At least Barney got his very own Presidential Medal of Freedom, which the Dims can never take away from him. ;-)
Barney even got his own official Easter egg.
Faithful little Barney walks in the rain with the President past the always hostile White House press corps.
Barney learned his faithfulness from the President's beloved English Spring Spaniel, Spotty, who passed away in February two years ago. Barney has been a worthy successor to his old friend.

Of course, Spotty did more than play. She was a steady presence by her man's side during many bright and many dark days. Here she quietly has his back as GWB calls Australian Prime Minister John Howard on September 28, 2001.
If I had my way
We would never grow old
And sunshine I'd bring every day.
You would reign all alone
Like a queen on a throne
If I had my way.
