I know that most noone here would fall for this, but Ive just received this on my freepmail from user Markkono, and I though I may as well send out a caution to everyone.

Its amazing how many people fall prey to these things, every year.

I fell for twice. The second time they used a different name, which tripped me up. Darn it. I won't fall for it again.

"He was assassinated last january 09/01/2004"

You'd think they would at least keep the dates current.

I was scouting something out, and came across of all things, http://www.nigerianscams.com and I don't know what this website is about, maybe you can type in "any country scams" .com and might get the same.

Still; I heard someone mention 419; and keeping up with soccer, Nigeria's National team are called the Super Eagles and they have a fraud warning on this page http://www.supereagles.com/.

I have received those kinds of letters periodically, but not recently.

If I had a "norminated" bank account I'd sign up, but sadly my bank account is non-norminated.

Isn't it a hoot!

I'm thinking about writing Opie&Anthony, and suggesting a 419 bit for their show.

"Can there possibly be anyone capable of using e-mail who is dumb enough?"

Remember the UCLA neuroscientist who made headlines when he claimed Reagan was acting as President with Alzheimers? Well, he just lost over a million $ to a Nigerian scam. There are so many levels of irony there.

Its a Nigerian type scam. You know, you'll get rich if you part with some of your money. Of course, the only thing that happens is your bank account is left poorer. Only fools fall for such an obvious scam - and the reason it works on some is a few people believe you can get something for nothing.
