CIA officer fired after admitting leak, (Mary McCarthy named in this article)

The officer flunked a polygraph exam before being fired on Thursday and is now under investigation by the Justice Department, NBC has learned.

Intelligence sources tell NBC News the accused officer, Mary McCarthy, worked in the CIA's inspector general's office and had worked for the National Security Council under the Clinton and and George W. Bush administrations.

The leak pertained to stories on the CIA’s rumored secret prisons in Eastern Europe, sources told NBC. The information was allegedly provided to Dana Priest of the Washington Post, who wrote about CIA prisons in November and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize on Monday for her reporting.

Sources said the CIA believes McCarthy had more than a dozen unauthorized contacts with Priest. Information about subjects other than the prisons may have been leaked as well.

You'd be amazed how antiseptic the L.A Slimes coverage was this morning. You had to read well into the article before they admit to the klintoon connection, and try to insert comments about Bush declassifying Plame to water it down. I sent this to the letters to the editor, doubt they will publish it, of course:

What an amazingly neutral article, with none of the Times usual innuendo and "analysis". I would guess no one could come up with a quick way to spin this, as anyone with their eyes open enough to read clearly sees this is a case of treason by a Clinton partisan to damage the Bush administration. It will be amusing to watch how this is spun in the coming weeks, as details about the officer connections to other democrats emerges.

Miss Marple and I have commented over the past 4-5 years about when real news breaks out, the MSM will often take 24 to 72 hours to really respond. They are used to lying and calling that news. So when real news like this happens, they are totally unprepared.

I bet they will push the poor whistleblower sad sack story sometime next week.

It is already being spun. Dems are saying that this is all show and that Bush's LEAK is far worse and hypocritical. They are also saying this is to divert from the high gas prices which are bringing millions into Bush's pockets.

It is information like this that just makes me unbelievably irritated:

When Bush was warned away from divulging any information that would support the case for war in Iraq, this little partisan bitch was one of the people warning him he couldn't say anything in his own defense. And when he would give a CIA-approved narrow statement about Iraq, it was nasty little partisan hacks like her immediately leaking to the press that everything the President just said was a lie.

Especially when I have liberal friends that say "the government aka Bush Administration" has been going around discrediting these people to support their war and "silence any and all critics." The truth appears to be the other way around, but it is exceptionally difficult to argue that point. They have it completely backwards and have no real grasp of just how dangerous this situation is.

Someday, we may actually find out just how amazing the Bush administration has been in cleaning up DC.

Goss and Rumsfield are both under fire for "not listening to" former employees. My suspicion is they just got put out with the rest of the garbage that has been stinking up the place.

Perhaps the President will get his "New Tone" in Washington after all.
