We are honored to provide a source of entertainment for our Troops, Veterans, and their families. If you are just a supporter of our Troops, we also welcome you!
We have been here every weekend for the past 3 years providing entertainment for our Troops, Veterans, and their families. And despite reports elsewhere--it has come at our own expense and not to our Troops.

 

Please support all the artists you see in the Canteen by either purchasing their music or merchandise. We provide links for you to do so. Thank you!

Providing entertainment and amusement for our Troops, Veterans, Allies, and their family members. To ensure that no one is forgotten who has served America and her Allies. We are proud to provide all of this at no cost to any of our brave heroes!

 

 

 

 

ANZAC DAY!
Celebrating our Aussie and Kiwi Allies!
Thank you!!

ANZAC Day is 25 April, and is the Holiest of Holy days in Australia and New Zealand. It commemorates the heroic landings at Gallipoli, Turkey (not far from ancient Troy), of the Australia New Zealand Army Corps during World War I, and the subsequent bloodbath where Australians, Kiwis and (surprisingly) our Turkish foe became as Brothers.

The great Turkish General and Statesman Mustafa Kemal Ataturk made Reconciliation possible between former enemies with his generous, heartfelt and poetic words after the war:

"Those heroes that shed their blood And lost their lives...
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore, rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
And the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side,
Here in this country of ours.
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries...
Wipe away your tears.
Your sons are now lying in our bosom And are in peace.
After having lost their lives on this land, they have
Become our sons as well."

 

To a Kiwi and an Aussie, ANZAC Day is like July 4, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day all rolled into one, and then celebrated on December 7 Pearl Harbor Day -- if that makes any sense. Huge emotion.

There's some rollicking good Aussie music, and in New Zealand we have some good tunes as well (check out Goldenhorse, Shihad, Crowded House...) Dunno about the Turks, haven't checked recently.

My Guardian Angel troop will post up for ANZAC Day either at Waikumite Memorial, Glen Eden or at Piha Beach -- depends on what the RSA (Returned Serviceman's Association) want. There we will help provide crowd control and first aid if needed.

Oh man, that was POPPING good. Nobody does it better thatn the Boston Pops. They totally rule.

Now, keeping the posts to a minimum, I must request more Aussie music for Anzac day. Very informative info on this thread tonight, I'd heard of Anzac day, but never knew it's significance, very sad and impressive.

More New Zealand and Turkish music too, of course, but I don't know any of those tunes. I don't even know the national athems, but it might be very cool to hear all three.

But I'll settle for Waltzing Matilda, if no more can be found.

GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND AND TURKEY. And Turkey, may you NOT pass into Islamofacism, this I devoutly wish for you.
