Cytori Therapeutics Inc. said on Thursday that it will begin the first clinical trial to test whether stem cells derived from fat can be used to regenerate breast tissue in Japan next month.
The 20-patient study, which will include women who have undergone partial mastectomies due to breast cancer, was approved by Japanese regulators, the company said.
Cytori, based in San Diego, said it has developed a system for isolating and concentrating a patients' own stem cells from tissue removed from one of the body's normal fatty deposits

At the close of 2005 there had been at least 65 treatments developed using Adult Stem Cells with many more in the works and great promise for the future.
Conversely, at the close of 2005 there had been ZERO treatments developed using Embryonic Stem Cells.
Moreover, according to http://www.stemcellresearch.org, Embryonic stem cells pose an unusual risk for genetic changes and tumor formation, with the risk increasing the longer the cells are grown, thus making their therapeutic use even more speculative and problematic.

can be used to regenerate breast tissue in Japan next month. Haven't the editors at Reuters ever heard of a misplaced preposition?

I think that is one of the most ignorant ill-informed malformed statements Ive ever read on FR. An idiot might say something crazy like that. But never a true right-winger.

Odd, all this talk about growing tissue from stem cells sounds an awful lot like what cancer does to survive.

Welcome to FR. Enlightenment follows. :)

I was wondering something similar, like would the fat cells know when to stop growing.
(Someone has already posted the picture of the girl with the HUGE breasts)

I always assumed right wingers meant conservatives who are really conservative, the gun nuts, anti government, think social security should be disbanded tomorrow group (which I'm proudly a part of) and the religious zealots are the religious right. The religious right aren't as conservative as the right wingers are.

WHAT?????!!!!!??? Where in the h-e-double-hockeysticks do you get an idea like that? Certainly not from so-called right-wingers. I don't know of ANYONE who would be opposed to using stem cells from fatty tissue to do reconstructive surgery.

How many times have I said, if only I could move the fat from the bottom to the top? FINALLY, scientists have heard me.
