People that believe Bush Lied about WMD will never change their mind. I have NEVER seen anyone actually explain what he lied about to someone who knows the truth. That is why it is only used as a "bumper sticker" item, no comments or rebuttal allowed.

Terrific article, but don't expect to see anything like this in that Democrat organ, the New York Times anytime soon. Anyways, the Democrats' whole "Bush lied" mantra is itself a lie because all Bush said - - those 16 words - - was
The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa", and British intelligence confirms they told him this.Ergo, it is impossible for Bush to have lied.
In other words, if you told me that the sun was green and I told somebody else, "parnasokan told me that the sun was green", then that would be the truth regardless of whether or not the sun was green. If somebody called me a liar I'd smash his teeth down his throat.
So, surprise, surprise - - the "Bush lied" Democrats are themselves morally corrupt liars.

Here's the Times article. I hope you can access it.

The London Sunday Times April 09, 2006
'Forgers' of key Iraq war contract named
Michael Smith
TWO employees of the Niger embassy in Rome were responsible for the forgery of a notorious set of documents used to help justify the Iraq war, an official investigation has allegedly found.
According to Nato sources, the investigation has evidence that Nigers consul and its ambassadors personal assistant faked a contract to show Saddam Hussein had bought uranium ore from the impoverished west African country.

The MSM and the RATS will read this and forget it. This article does not have the snappy sound bites like "Bush Lied".

Is it possible that Zawahie, the Iraqi Ambassador to the Vatican ( and formerly, the man behind the Iraqi purchase of uranium in 1981), had contact with these Italian forgers before visiting Niger? Perhaps some of this was a set-up from the get-go.

Have you seen this? There is a URL for the Michael Smith article at #8. From there you can go to his blog where he fills in a lot of his other thoughts--Nigergate I andf II. He is totally anti-Bush and wrong about Plame but the blog and the comments that follow are very interesting. This is the same Michael Smith as the Downing Street memo. I was going to alert some of the others who were hot on Wilson's trail last summer but I can't remember who they were. Maybe you can.

The truth is the following: Saddam tried to buy uranium from Niger, sending, to this end, Wissam al-Zahawie, Saddams ex representative to the Atomic Agency of the United Nations and to the Conference on Non Proliferation of the United Nations, to the central African nation. The contract was never formalised but the attempt was carried out and the proof of this exists. The ex ambassador, and decisively anti-Bush, Joe Wilson, at the centre of the Ciagate scandal that has rocked Washington, was sent to Niger by the Cia and his wife Valeria Plame in order to investigate the attempts at procurement didnt uncover them and is now obliged to give evasive replies on American talk shows.

Liberals do not like untidy unpackaged drama queens so who really selected Joe Wilson to go whitewash Saddam? That vietnam war hero sure liked Wilson' wrapping paper until it left newspaper print on his dainty fingers. I can't believe that JFKerry was deceived by Wilson, won't fit his intelligence profile... The interpretation given by the ex-ambassador Wilson, La Repubblica and a couple of radical journalists hired by CBS, the authors of the false anti-Bush scoop ... Sadly, See BS will continue to commit such fraud because there is no way to even shame the bastards into stopping and there isn't a court in America that will prosecute the lying, anti-American scum at See BS.

Tenet, intentionally or unintentionally, compounded the problem with his
July 11, 2003 Press release that was intended to "counter" Wilson's NYT article.
Tenet referred to the statement in the STOTU address by stating that, "These 16 words should never have been included in the text written for the President." "The background above makes it even more troubling that the 16 words eventually made it into the State of the Union speech. This was a mistake."
The President was factually correct and the British to this day stand behind their assessment. Tenet had no business questioning whether the statement should have been left in the address. He tried to nuance the issue by saying,
"Some of the language was changed. From what we know now, Agency officials in the end concurred that the text in the speech was factually correct - i.e. that the British government report said that Iraq sought uranium from Africa. This should not have been the test for clearing a Presidential address. This did not rise to the level of certainty which should be required for Presidential speeches, and should have ensured that it was removed."
I don't know if Bush cleared this press release, but it was a mistake. Tenet, a long time Dem staffer, may have set a trap for Bush.
