I'll bet no one had to be forced to show up to that get together.
Was this story actually published in February, or did you make a typo?
See this?
Your link doesn't go with this story, I'm afraid. Could you fix that, so I can visit the actual story?
I had to scan this article as it was not available online at the newspaper website.
The author gave me persission to post it.
Freeper Dolly Cali helped me to post the photo!
Excerpt:
Harris returned from the trip Thursday evening and on Friday morning spoke to a small group of parents from Manatee and Sarasota counties who have sons and daughters serving overseas.
Harris meets with parents of troops at least monthly, if her schedule allows. Monday's low-key get-together took place at a secluded conference room at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, a company that sells and markets Anheuser-Busch products throughout Southwest Florida. No media were present.
Harris said parents echo what the troops are saying. "People who have lost sons and daughters tell us they don't want their sacrifice to be in vain."
Special thanks to my Finest Freeper Friend DollyCali for her help in posting this photo of Congresswoman Harris with our troops in Iraq!
Excerpt:
Congresswoman says infrastructure improvements and Iraqi-American cooperation are most noticeable changes.
During a recent trip to Iraq, U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, R-Longboat Key, met one-on-one with a small group of Florida soldiers in the Middle East.
Harris said one soldier told her to let the military experts fight the war and decide when to withdraw troops.
"He told me, 'Don't take us out before we can finish;" Harris said. "That is the one thing the troops say when I am alone with them:'
The five-day trip to Iraq, Israel and Jordan reaffirmed the pro-war congresswoman's stance. If elected to U.S. Senate, her persistent opposition to an early withdrawal of troops could prove decisive in .close votes.
And how many of the sitting senators have bothered their little selves to pay a visit to our soldiers? Oh, they are glued to their seats so they can't move, or speak, or solve any real problems...
Lt is getting a bit familiar with the lady.
BUMP! Great job!
Great pic, Julie...
The pleasure of your company is requested on this thread.
I can't vote for Ms. Harris, but I know Longboat Key. I used to live in Florida.
That Key is just north of Sarasota. Big Yacht Club there. Very rich people in an exclusive area.
Is she making any headway with her campaign yet?
Thanks Julie...I will definitely be pushing for Harris to win the senate seat in NOV. Actually, I'll be voting for whomever opposes Nelson. We have to get rid of that neoMarxist once and for all. I don't know yet who it will be for sure but I do like Harris and hope she triumphs if we have a primary...not sure what our GOP is doing yet.
Great story! Thanks...:)
Seems I remember a February '06 Fl Today article relating Iraq differences between Bill Nelson and Katherine.
He sees the war as "a mess" ; she sees successes.
Dear Julie, there seems to be a typo here; >Harris first visited Iraq in 2002< ?
bttt
What really comes through is Katherine's deep respect and appreciation for the troops and their families.
Unlike Nelson, who spouts the Dem "quagmire" talking points, Katherine acknowledges the progress being made as well as the existing challenges.
She supports the troops AND THEIR MISSION.She's on America's side, Nelson is not.
I don't see the wooden indian in that picture. Go get'em Katherine!
