Hold Those 2006 GOP Obituaries (rising heartland rage over illegal invasion aiding Pubbies)
NY Post ^ | April 20, 2006 | DEBORAH ORIN

All of a sudden, Republicans have jumped ahead in some of the top 2006 election contests .......California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a solid re-election lead for the first time and Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Lynn Swann has a real shot to be Pennsylvania's first black governor (statistically tied with Gov. Ed Rendell). In New Jersey, Tom Kean Jr. has edged ahead of Sen. Bob Menendez. Sen. George Allen (Va.) looks solid as a rock for re-election despite Democratic vows to rock his 2008 presidential dreams. Even No. 1 at-risk Republican Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) now trails by 9 points instead of double digits.

And Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton just hit a new low in 2008 support as only 26% nationwide say they'd definitely back her, while 41% say no way (all data from Rasmussen Reports.com, which accurately predicted the 2004 election).

--SNIP--

Two other key factors: The Bush economy looks pretty good, and there's a rising heartland rage over illegal immigration.

Excuse my ignorance, but I know nothing about Allen Brothers Prime Steak, and at those prices I don't want to.

A store bought steak, aged to perfection in my refigerator and cooked likewise, will suffice just fine.

A few Scotch and soda's while the wife prepares a nice garden salad, a beautiful baked potato and a freshly cooked vegetable, chased down by a domestic wine, will do quite nicely.

No waitress saying ... "No problem", no cops pulling me over for drinking and driving. This will leave me more cash to buy gas, thus enabling me to get more Scotch, wine and steaks to age. ;)

The GOP has to get right on illegal immigration--even if it means jettisoning the president on this issue--and 2006 will look a lot brighter.

Of course, there are intangibles. The first is, of course, the possibility of a full-blown conflict with Iran in the late summer/early fall.

The other intangible is an abortion ruling by the Supreme Court before the election. If it goes badly and the two new guys look more like Souters than Scalias, a lot of pro-life/social conservatives will abandon ship.

Just in case you're curious, here's a link to their website: http://www.allenbrothers.com/

Read it and enjoy. Rush mentioned them a couple of months ago on his show; that's how I came to know about them.

No real conservative will turn against a President fighting our enemies foreign and domestic in a battle for National survival. Most of them are not willing to return to power the Party of Treason because of perceived fiscal policies. You think returning to High Taxes, Low concern for National Security is an answer to ANYTHING?

How could any REAL conservative join the frothing Bush Haters on the Left?

Nor do most Americans truly understand what the National debt or deficit actually mean. For example how much real debt is there after considering the value of all the National ASSETS purchased with that debt? How much is the Grand Canyon worth? Or all the military hardware owned by the Defense Dept.?

But only fools believe it politic to sacrifice power for ideological purity particularly when pursuit of that purity allows the empowerment of FAR WORSE policies.

Some people have never realized that the real world requires compromises particularly when voting is a democratic process. And they appear clueless that only 35% of the electorate call themselves conservative while a much larger percent are moderate, 48%. The latter cannot be ignored and allowed to be drawn to the Left.

What a relief! Here I imagined wetbacks were working in some finer

I was a chef in the past. If you saw what went went on in most kitchens - you'd never eat out again.

Ignorance truly is bliss.

Say it again - loud. Maybe the "I'm mad at the Republicans so I'm going to show them and vote Democrat" will finally get it.

Certainly the Harrier Meirs USSC fiasco demonstrated that the conservative Repub base can, and will, stand up for their principles. So, you just know the amnesty bill is kaput.

He doesn't think he can support someone who is in favor of letting large numbers of people who love Mexico more than the U.S.A. be part of this nation.

The first demonstrations seared the image of Mexican Flags into American minds. Now when they see a rally watchers count flags and think to themselves that those carrying American flags may not be showing their true allegiance.

As to the illegal situation, I have personally given up Mex. Restaurants because I know of too many involved in "rotating" illegals thru the system.

Where I live when it comes to employees all restaurants and fast food joints bar one are Mexican.

Well, that's the twist isn't it? I don't want the Republicans to lose control of congress because then we'll get two years of circus as Soros finances an impeachment bid. But how do you get incumbents to return to their roots as fiscal conservatives? The tax cuts were great, but the idea was supposed to be to starve "big gov't" of resources to make pruning back easier. Didn't happen, as once elected officials get a taste of the trough they get drunk with spending power.

Dude, settle down. All I did was question Republican spending discipline and you lump me in with the Left? What happened to reasoned debate?

Yup------they are feeling the heat. The backlash is very intense.

These stupidos actually thought Americans would succumb to invaders waving Mexican flags in our faces, warning us about American imperialism, revolution, and annexation.

I guess that'll teach 'em to listen to the advice of drug lords, lowlife pushers and their crack-brained cadres.

I do want real spending reductions, however. That will NEVER happen if the dims win. NEVER!

The way things are going, it is not very likely to happen under the pubs either.
