"GOP Defector".

That would be the dumbest response possible. You do not win battles by running away from them,

Have you seen this? Its funny but totally true

http://www.newswithviews.com/Bresnahan/david6.htm

Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this. I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from President Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely. However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely,

David M. Bresnahan

Hey Mexican government, Georgia's law is ten times more lenient than your own immigration laws.

"That would be the dumbest response possible."

Probably. But I've not been very rational lately.

I really am just fed up with mealy-mouthed politicians in general.

I worked hard to get our "leader" elected.

I've never voted anything but GOP.

Prior to Reagan I was apathetic and didn't vote.

I'm getting that way again.

Did you notice that the Democrat alternative plan on Immigration is to simply strip the bill of all enforcement provisions? Your Defection plan will get you the worse possible answer to the issues you care about

I still don't understand why some politician doesn't come up with the statement "we will have reciprocity's with you". Surely you don't mistreat your aliens? [sarcasm].

We think your idea and the implementation of immigration is excellent. Since our President and Congress can't come up with a bill we will just copy yours. We promise we will enforce our new law as well as you do yours.

Read how Mexico handles their aliens.

I can't believe the AP actually reported that. But I'm glad they did.

Unless the GOP gets the hint.

My favorite line from the article is this:

"It's the position of [Fox] that the half-measures in this law are insufficient to resolve ... the complex phenomenon of immigration between Mexico and the United States," Aguilar said.

Another one to file under "It won't work, but please, please don't do it!"

Can someone in the U.S. government tell the Mexican government to keep its nose out of U.S. internal affairs.

The Georgia government should blast Mexico's law that discriminates against Georgians--in fact, against all Americans.

I'm just waiting for The Wall Street Journal to editorialize on Georgia's new law. If they come down on it--and they will because it penalizes employers who hire illegals--it's a slam dunk for the Georgia legislature and the governor.

Ruben Aguilar, spokesman for President Vicente Fox, told reporters Tuesday morning that implementing parts of the Georgia law could result in "acts of discrimination" against Mexicans living in Georgia.

Well, duh. If you are a citizen of Mexico here illegally we have the right to be discriminatory in terms of what you are entitled to. Including stay in this country.

HISPANICS, on the other hand, that are LEGAL will be just fine under this law.

Nice giveaway by Fox's rep. For the record Foxy...Hispanics are NOT "Mexicans" by right of skin color and attempts to make this a backlash against ethnity or race will not work. This country doesn't have a problem with Hispanics. A problem with those here illegally whether it be Mexico, Canada, France, England, Syria, Iran....no matter whether white, black, brown....no matter whether they speak English, Spanish, French,....? hell yeah. Come the right way and we welcome you regardless of skin color, language barrier or ethnity.

All Vicente would need to do is supply a rule of law for all people in Mexico, so that Mexicans can keep what the make, and the Mexican people will build their own wealth. And make a poorly managed cesspit into a garden. Assuming he would survive the effort.

^^^
Exactly. But watch out for the flying pigs.
