"Catholic Leader Ponders Violence in Koran"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - Australia's top Catholic churchman is taking flak for a speech delivered in the United States three months ago. Muslims in his home country accuse him of being misinformed about a religion they insist is peaceful.
Cardinal George Pell, the archbishop of Sydney, told an audience of Catholic business leaders in Florida he believed it was vital to read the Koran, "because the challenge of Islam will be with us for the remainder of our lives."
He said 9/11 had been his wake-up call to understand Islam better.
"In my own reading of the Koran, I began to note down invocations to violence," he said. "There are so many of them, however, that I abandoned this exercise after 50 or 60 or 70 pages."
"Considered strictly on its own terms, Islam is not a tolerant religion, and its capacity for far-reaching renovation is severely limited," Pell said. He added, however, that the human factor could also play a mitigating or exacerbating role, and he compared the situations in Indonesia and Pakistan."

Death By Belgian Chocolate
Updated: 11:01, Monday May 08, 2006
The murder of a sweet-toothed terror suspect has been revealed.
Israeli agents believed Wadia Haddad was behind the 1976 hijacking of an Air France plane in Uganda. Mossad tracked the 22-stone head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine to Baghdad the following year. And knowing he had a sweet tooth, they managed to supply him with Belgian chocolates laced with poison through a Palestinian double agent.
Aaron Klein, in his book Striking Back, says the plot worked and Haddad died in 1978. The author said the scheme was so sophisticated that when he passed away, he only showed symptoms of leukaemia.
Interesting info. I found while searching for info. on Haddad:
The internal Palestinian battle comes as Israeli forces remain on heightened alert to cope with anticipated unrest when Arafat is finally pronounced dead. The possibility of major trouble has been reinforced by a claim made on Sunday by a top Arafat deputy in Ramallah that Israeli agents poisoned the dying PLO chairman. He noted that Arafat "is suffering the same symptoms as Wadia Haddad" who was a military leader in the Popular Front PLO-splinter group that was widely believed to have been poisoned by an Arab "collaborator" working for Israel in the 1970s.
Cardinal Pell is an honest, and brave man for calling a spade a spade.
Whining and seething will surely follow, as usual with devotees of TARP ( the alleged religion of peace ) but let those with eyes, see.
Read, and weep:
