"...but high-profile gun deaths - like that of a toddler killed by a stray bullet on Easter Sunday - continue to hold a spotlight on the issue."

Same old, same old. Take a "tear-jerker" but statistically anomalous incident, blow it all over the media, and grossly out of proportion, and then use it to justify grabbing innocent citizens firearms.

NEW YORK - Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will host a summit next week for about a dozen of their colleagues to discuss gun violence, a problem that has long frustrated big-city mayors.

Don't hold this lightly, this is an important strategy session by the lefties to attempt to coordinate a media campaign and legislative efforts to control gun sales in other states by claiming that "out of state guns" are causing the violence in their communities.

(I thought it was the criminals that caused the violence, but to a liberal the word "criminal" means: "voter".)

TRANSLATION: The 12 mayors will meet to come up with a unified theory of extorting mone from gun makers ala tobacco suits.

With regards to Bloomberg, we need to have an entrance exam into the party to prevent such democrat opportunists.

The second two words in the last paragraph that refer to the first word, are nothing but a lie. If I was the RNC chairman, the mayor and the newspaper would be getting phone calls from the RNC lawyer threatening a law suit if they don't retract the statement.

Every damn study has shown that increased gun ownership DECREASES violence in that community.

Bloomberg is a pompous ass, just like King Daley in Chicago and that idiot savant in Boston.

While they have this summit there will be men posted at the door WITH GUNS to keep these jackasses safe.

Hey you liberal slime buckets, give up your security details and then we'll talk about my guns.

Bloomberg, a Republican, has zeroed in on gun control as a priority for his second term, which began four months ago.

Anywhere but NY, this would be the beginning of the end of his political career.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Interesting. Cities with the toughest gun laws are plagued by gun violence. They continue to overlook the obvious.

It all comes down to fathers getting married to mothers.

Let's see a graph of gun crime per capita v. marriage rate.

This is it in a nutshell. Does it occur to anyone that we should no longer vote in LAWYERS as our legislators? We're working on getting rid of our Lawyer/Governor in Wisconsin right now.

"Supporters say that without the law local governments could influence federal policy by repeatedly filing baseless lawsuits."

They've got their panties in a wad because someone is standing between them and cash-generating lawsuits against honest manufacturers. *Rolleyes*
