Tony Snow offered White House Job
Heard on the John Gibson radio program

Posted on 04/18/2006 5:48:13 PM PDT by yellowdoghunter

I just heard on the John Gibson radio program that Tony Snow has been offered McClellan's job at the White House. He has not made a decision but will discuss it on his radio program tomorrow.

I didn't see this posted. Just posting what I heard. No link.

The Nation claims the CNN report said it was several weeks ago in fact that the WH approached Snow.

I can't confirm this, and the NYT piece does not really fit with that. Several weeks ago is not "very recent," which is what the Times used as their time frame.

In any event, very interesting. We will see what happens tomorrow. Night all.

Mr. Snow, I am so pleased you're on FoxNews--it's a real pleasure to be able to relax and listen to some excellent commentary from you.

But if it is true that you've been approached by the White House--and I believe it is--I ask that you take the job. Please. You have unique personal qualifications that would be indispensable. You would not only benefit the President and his administration, you would actually benefit the country--all of us.

That's no reason to take it--you owe us nothing. But I am a little old lady who is politely asking.

Please, Mr. Snow, take the job.

Thanks for your consideration,

Judy

Oh it's great that kitty is doing well. I saw my mom on Saturday, and she asked me "how is your friend's diabetic cat doing?" (I didn't tell her you're a cyber-friend!) In any case our family has its priorities straight! lol

I betcha the time frame coincides when Josh Bolton took over for Andy Card...which was a week or so ago.

I have always figured Scott might leave to work on his mother's campaign for Texas Governor....but, considering she has no chance to win...IMHO...it wouldn't exactly be a great career move...>LOL

I think Tori Clark would be great, but Dobbs played an out-take of her on CNN saying if asked she would not take the job..

I have been pushing for Torie Clark for a long time...and about 2-3 weeks ago...I saw her slap down Paul Begala on CNN so bad...that I became more of a fan...

I would LOVE to see her take the job, if Tony doesn't.

Tony:

I am well aware of your sterling resume and also of your health battle so I will certainly respect any decision you make. I believe you make a great contribution through Fox and your radio program and would miss you in those important roles.

That said, this role has a flavor that allows you to be more directly involved in the future of our Country by competently explaining the President's positions in a time where many of the media have seemed to have forgotten that journalism is a function of fact finding and not advocacy.

I am comfortable in saying that the viewership of the daily WH Press Conferences would increase dramatically. The benefit would be that many of us that are vigilant in regards to the liberal press would be more apt to monitor, disseminate and expose their blatant bias. And your wordsmithing would not allow the press to cajole you into soundbites that are misrepresented by the network newscasts day-in and day-out.

Good luck with your decision - I'll listen in tomorrow morning.

"Rubbin' elbows with Snow." (I think that's the line Mr. President proclaims during one of T.S.'s radio show sounders).

While you are clearly not a fav of mine on Fox or IRL, I wish you the best, if you decide to take the job, if offered to you..

As for your CFR membership... tisk.. tisk.. you could have done so much better... ever heard of the Elks, Jaycees or the Rotary Club?

I too would have gone with Torie Clark, she was excellent in the Pentagon. If she doesn't want it, Tony Snow should jump on it, if just for the FReeper support.

I know that you have your family and your health to think about, but allow me to very selfishly say:

Please take the job!!!

You have a higher IQ than the entire WH Press Corps combined, and it would be a delight to see you run circles around them.

More importantly, I think we all know how great the stakes are for the Republic.

It's a bit like being drafted, I guess. I'm sorry you got the low number.

I think Tori would be awsome, she used to run rings around the Pentagon reporters and I would love to see her take on Helen Thomas and David Gregory.

Dear Tony,

I am not sure what a rosary is, but I'll send prayers (in Hebrew) and blessings on your behalf up daily as well.

The people on this thread who are begging you to take this are doing so because the worst thing about the Bush administration (other than their handling of illegal immigration) is the LOUSY PR they get. The pseudointellectuals of the drive-by media define all the issues for the busy American people.

We need somebody NICE and GENUINE who can explain the President's positions to the laypeople with no condescension. We need someone to counter the spin with truth. Rush Limbaugh style.

You could do this. You could redefine conservatism truthfully. It's an awful job with the David Gregories and Helen Thomases in your face every day, but you might be able to crack it for a while.

I hope that if you turn it down, it's for any reason other than your health, because I do fervently hope your health is great.

"McClellan is a nice guy and with a resume line of WH press sec, he can go places. But, it is time for new blood."

McClellan and Dan Bartlett are poodles at a time when we need pit bulls in the Communications office.

Snow is a "nice guy", but he knows how to play hardball.

The job, however, is grueling and one wonders if Tony is up to it considering his recent bout with cancer.

I guess those days at Fort Sill have served you well.

I believe with your demeanor that you would do any job you try justice.

Tony would be great.

He would add class and would stop the petty sniping from the childish MSM pseudo journalists.
