Nope, premium only. It causes me physical pain every time I pass my local Arco.

And, best of all the RUSSELL 2000 is up 2.8%
What that means is that if the market could do that every trading day for the next year, you would have $1,000,000 for every $1 you had invested yesterday.
Obviously the market isn't going to do that every trading day.
I'd be happy to have it every 10th day.

Don't you think that argument is lost on gen X'ers? Nope, I'm a gen Xer and I know what you mean. Hoovers are vacuum cleaners so it's making a reference to the economy sucking. < /joke>

"The real reason for the market rally today is that there is a rumor going around that China's President Hu is going to announce a major revaluation of the Yuan when he meets with President Bush while both are here in primetime."
That's good news. Getting to know the Bogeyman (fear of competition and fear of future dollar instability surprises) can inspire more short-term confidence. A little more courage and calm could make the long term ride better, too. It would be nice if more investors would let it ride. Too many knee-jerk rate hikes haven't done much more than lower value in friendly countries relative to ours and doesn't really make us all richer in the long term.

On the other hand, if the yuan float is just cosmetic (like what they announced last year) or doesn't happen, then the market gives back the gains.

Ivan was working in Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR) back in 1990. We bought a bunch of it for the office, and the chairs made in Ivan's unit were actually very good.
He had missed his calling.

" drive a Saturn VUE and on Sunday, I filled it up in Wausau Wisconsin.
A full tank cost me $39.00! And I was pumping regular gas only.
The sticker shock definitely hit me. "
Well the liberal pukes wanted high fuel costs, no refineries, no ANWR drilling, and no nuke energy plants, they got their wish and I hope the price goes up more so they can really enjoy it.
I would put an extra tax on little toy cars now, to make up for any lost tax on people cutting back on driving real cars and trucks.
This couldn't be better.

"On the other hand, if the yuan float is just cosmetic (like what they announced last year) or doesn't happen, then the market gives back the gains."That would be very, very likely if the rumor turns out false (or turns out true but just underwhelming). You are correct.

He was an interesting guy. The 1980s created a bunch of interesting guys -- like Jeff "Mad Dog" Beck -- who had a brief role in the movie Wall Street.

@#$%%@#$ lousy economy! It's a great economy if you're an investor. Doesn't do you much good, though, if you're unemployed or underemployed because your job got exported to China or India.

The other possibility is that the Chinese let the yuan float some, but we raise interest rates. This would cover their spread since they're dumping a good portion of their dollars back into U.S. bonds. (They're now our third largest creditor).

The real reason for the market rally today is that there is a rumor going around that China's President Hu is going to announce a major revaluation of the Yuan when he meets with President Bush while both are here in primetime. Whoa, that would be big!
