Bob Keenan to stump across state in RV (Montana Senate race)
The Missoulian ^ | April 17, 2006 | Matt Gouras

State lawmaker Bob Keenan says his primary campaign against incumbent Sen. Conrad Burns won't have much money and will mostly be built around a monthlong RV tour of Montana with his wife and children.

Keenan said he expects to raise about $100,000 - compared to the millions Burns has in his campaign coffers. The well-known legislator from Bigfork said he won't have money for expensive media campaigns or a campaign staff.

Instead, he plans to spend May shaking hands with people across the state, an “old-fashioned, grass-roots, power-of-one campaign.”

Bob Keenan was won elections where he's been outspent before. Once he was outspent by six-to-one and won anyway.

Conrad Burns has become part of the problem.

I don't know the reason as to why I'm on this particular ping list of yours, but would you take me off please?

I say we dump Burns in the primary and take our chances with Keenan in the general. Keenan has room to grow. Any support Burns has now is his glass ceiling.

You're from a neighboring state, so I thought you might have some knowlege of this. But you're off the list now.

"I say we dump Burns in the primary and take our chances with Keenan in the general. Keenan has room to grow. Any support Burns has now is his glass ceiling."

That's very astute and well-stated.

Keenan is playing his cards right with this month-long RV tour. Mike Taylor did an RV tour back in 2002, and nearly beat Baucus for his seat. It wasn't until Baucus played the homophobe card that Taylor dropped out.

I hope to shake Keenan's hand in the coming days and assure him he has my vote.

That's very wise of you. If you have a front yard, perhaps you could put up a sign.
