Two Duke University lacrosse players were arrested early Tuesday on charges of rape, sexual offense and kidnapping, FOX News has confirmed.
Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, both 20 years old, were being held on $400,000 bond each. Seligmann had posted bond by 7:30 a.m. and Finnerty was in the process of doing so. By posting bond, the players avoid making an initial court appearance later Tuesday.
District Attorney Mike Nifong said authorities are still trying to identify a third assailant.

Then why did the news reports say there was no DNA match to any of the players?
From 93% to 97%. He's a Democrat.
"What kind of name is Nifong??????????"
It's an American spelling of Neufang, descendants of Balthasar Neufang. It's a local surname in the Winston-Salem vicinity, and so I'd have to guess Moravian. Could be from Canton Basel, Switzerland, Pfaltz-Am-Rhein in modern-day France, Bohemia or Schwarzwald (Black Forest).
"but I am prety sure a judge can dismiss a case with prejudice against the prosecution and recommend that the bar association take some action."
Yeah, that'll happen.
The other stripper said she was fine when she showed up. FWIW.
Think we could find your DNA on a towel in a bathroom you have used? DNA evidence only gives you a source...not a why or how.
Heard it on local DC news
[The grand jury apparently has some reason to charge them. Think I'll wait for the actual evidence to come out instead of listening to the spin of defense attorneys and the prosecutor.]
Good advice.
The radio report mentioned the possibility of rohypnol. I don't recall the exact wording, because I wasn't paying attention to the story until I heard that. Like 95% of the stuff floating around on this case, it is speculation.
I have no idea as to the accuracy of that rumor, but if it proves true, it certainly increases the chances that a crime was committed at the frat party. Still doesn't prove it by itself, and could be a false rumor. All I know right now is that both sides appear to be trash. Who is the innocent trash and who is the guilty trash? I have no idea.
"I also heard that DNA of two of the players was found on a towel in the bathroom."
It would be more surprising if no DNA was found on a towel in the bathroom. Your DNA is on your towels, as mine is on mine.
The bathroom of the house they live in?
The DNA found on the towel in the bathroom was that of two of three players who lived in the house (I wonder how that got there - duh!) and they aren't the ones charged (I deduce that because the three who lived at the house were the team captains and the captains haven't been charged).
So much for that!
Why does it matter? Why the dozen question marks, what exactly is your point?
Your moniker is an excellent description of how much you know {or have thought} about this case.
People who are falsely accused as is probable in this case should have a right to sue the government for damages involving the the full cost of legal fees required to defend themselves and for pain and suffering if found to be innocent. Such a law would prevent indictments based on flimsy evidence and would also prevent the courts from being used as a political weapon in order to get reelected.
Still no news on McKinney.
WSB News just said the charges against the 2 players include rape and kidnapping.
[First I've heard that the woman was kidnapped.]
Prosecutors have almost complete immunity for their actions.
Upon reflection, I think the only effective remedy for this kind of abuse would be to require a preliminary hearing in open court before someone is indicted for a crime.
I can't say for sure, needless to mention, but if she was slipped a roofie with a mixed drink she should've been knocked flat on her ass for the rest of the night, and I have a fairly decent basis to say that because I've taken rohypnol before. And my body mass is no doubt far greater than hers.
But, I'll definitely grant that different people's body chemistry can react to drugs in very different ways. If she was slipped a roofie it should've shown up in blood tests. I guess we'll see.
