Two Duke University lacrosse players were arrested early Tuesday on charges of rape, sexual offense and kidnapping, FOX News has confirmed.
Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, both 20 years old, were being held on $400,000 bond each. Seligmann had posted bond by 7:30 a.m. and Finnerty was in the process of doing so. By posting bond, the players avoid making an initial court appearance later Tuesday.
District Attorney Mike Nifong said authorities are still trying to identify a third assailant.

Not sure on NC law but here in SC just the act of me grabbing you by the arm and keeping you from moving can be considered kidnapping. IANAL but I had that demonstrated by one to me when I asked him recently about it because a person I know was charged with it. I think it's just another charge they can throw on to attempt to barter with.

But many Blacks who wouldn't have bothered to vote in this election may turn out to vote.

With the media circus surrounding this case I can't imagine bringing a case they don't feel they can win...

With Jesse Jackson prepared to shake you and your state down, I can imagine fully why a bad case would be brought to trial.

As a Carolinian, when you have two rich boys from NJ and NY you don't take chances. Also, the DA is trying to get elected - hint-hint.

There appears to be no real evidence. Plenty of DNA was available but all were negative. These two girls went to a frat party to strip. they were expecting maybe a sewing circle?
Credibility hangs on the "victim's" word. The alleged victim is an exotic dancer (code word for hooker) who was drunk and who has a past criminal record. Shades of Twana Brawley! Where is Reverend Al Sharpton when you need him?
There must not be much happening in the world for the media to spend so much time on this unspectacular and common incident. It probably didn't happen. If it did, punish the rapers and let's move on.

I simply don't know, it sounds like it's some kind of Oriental name.It just seems odd coming from NC. By the tone of your answer it sounds like you're looking for an argument.

You can walk into my bathroom and find my DNA on my towel. DNA can be extracted many different ways. Thanks to Bill Clinton, most people naturally think DNA is semen on clothing.

Where is Reverend Al Sharpton when you need him? This is Jesse's Tawana. Afterall, it helped Sharpton to become a "well-respected" candidate for the Democrats.

This reminds me greatly of a local campus where a lesbian was beaten.....they had marches, they had candle-lite vigils, they put up wanted posters of the homophobes, they had listening sessions. They even hauled in a number of male students, who fit the decription of the perps.
Fortunately one of our local police did his job and researched the "victim". Turns out she had pulled this stunt before. Charges were dropped and the "victim" changed schools with advice that she get help because she was "troubled" Evidently the male students who were hauled in to jail for questioning weren't "troubled"
I suspect this case will go away once the local elections are over. (American Justice at it's PC finest)

This case will never go to trial. After the election for D.A. in two weeks, it will be thrown out during a preliminary hearing.

The old saying in Pennsylvania was that the DA could get the Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich. The saying in general is that any DA could indict a ham sandwich. Grand juries were supposed to be for the protection of the accused, but have devolved into simple prosecutorial tools.

Neufang, prounounced "NOI-fahng" in German, is not that far from the American pronunciation of Nifong.
