'he was quite snarly and dismissive to my comments the other day, and he was not solicitous of any other opinions, just leaving with the comment that "because obviously you know nothing".'

Not what I have found, and believe me, I have been a critic of Illegal immigration (got your emphasis). I live in California, and have been quite vocal on this thread. Never has Tony been condescending, and always respectful. Could you have taken some comments out of context? As I said before, perhaps something could be lacking in your presentation of your views.......respectful usually works quite well. We're not on the thread to beat each other over the head with our opinions, but to share them, and hopefully educate at some times, and learn at others. There is very little black and white in the world, and we all need to learn that by working with the shades of gray we'll accomplish more. The tactic of everyone yelling and no one listening doesn't work well.....as evidenced by our Congress critters! ;>)

Me too! He can do it and they never know what hit them! And he gets lots of information from his call-in guests that no one else would.

Bet that would draw a larger audience than "Idol".

"There was an interesting clip on the local NC news of illegals filing income taxes."

That must be interesting: filing tax returns on somebody else's S.S. number...
But I think if they are in fact filing returns, it's for an altogether different purpose:

My wife works at a place that employs a number of shall we say, "unusually documented" cabinet-makers.
They first go to either Wisconsin or North Carolina to get an I.D.

When they come here, their W-2s all show that they have at least 13 dependents; so, they're not paying any withholding at all.

If these guys were filing returns, then, they'd be getting "refunds" due to the so-called "Earned Income Credit" that amounts to nothing more than a hand-out.

"I have never, repeat never, said "obviously you know nothing."

I call your attention to posting Number 56 in this thread:

Apparently someone is using your name if it was not you that made the referenced posting, and you should notify the moderator.

"when I read the small print I changed my mind" is so funny. There used to be saying that it was easier to live as a Protestant but easier to die a Catholic. The small print is what the thoughtful person reads before making a commitment. Bishop Sheen had all of my Protestant friends enthralled as he stimulated them intellectually and with humor. They didn't convert but then that was not the objective of the Sheen program. He wanted to win souls for Christ, and did his best to give his viewers a reason to become Christians.

you drive a Lexus hybrid...

Is this an "ad hominem" attack or an "ad hybrid" attack?

As for the limousine Republican idiocy, you've got the wrong guy." And you drive a Lexus hybrid (discount price $51,000)? Don't see too many of those in my middle-class, wage-depressed (illegals!) neighborhood. And the Wall Street Journal says that hybrid owners are overwhelmingly Democrats and blue-staters.

You folks crack me up! You lob these snarky remarks while Tony is trying to conduct his radio program. You know he is at a bit of a disadvantage at the moment to answer you. Take your "disagreement with Tony" off the thread & do it through FReep mail where at least he has a chance to answer you fully!

Just as with OJ, the introduction of the race card makes it difficult to get the real facts.

The money the illegals are sending "home" to Mexico will be the biggest income producer for Mexico in 2006.

In 205, oil was the highest incomce producer.

Says something, doesn't it?

I wish I could remember where I read that but I was so outraged, I had to shut down the PC and go do something else. Vacuuming seemed more enjoyable than reading statistics like that!

State Criminal Alien Assistance Program The federal government reimburses state and local jails for the incarceration of a proportion of "criminal illegal aliens" in their prisons. There has been criticism regarding this program, as, according to some, it appears to encourage states/local jails to keep illegals in their prisons, rather than deporting them to the country of origin. As long as they aren't deported, they get money.

Also, according to this document, "Detailed Information on the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program Assessment"

A major flaw in the program design is that it permits States/jurisdictions to use the SCAAP payments for any purpose, not just incarceration of criminal aliens--nor necessarily any criminal justice purpose. For many jurisdictions, this means that correctional facilities never benefit from the funding, nor do local police or prosecutors.
I haven't studied this program enough to make any final conclusions, but it seems that, rather than do away with funding monies altogether to the states/local jails, changes should be made to ensure that states aren't keeping criminal illegals in their jails just so they get money. And if they are receiving money, then they should account for where it is being spent.

I don't think states, alone, should bear the costs incurred for illegals coming into the United States who, thereafter, commit crimes.

It would for Republicans....and DIMs who really want to know what happened with him! He has only gotten away with all of it because he has never actually had to run for his office in Massachusettes. It is always just handed to him.

When I tried to explain Bishop Sheen's show to my kids they convulsed into laughter! Couldn't believe that a show like that could actually have been popular! Oh, for the simpler times!! ;>)

All too often, "engage in dialog" means nothing more than "dueling monologs."
