Yes, I do as well. Many folks with MS suffer greatly when exacerbations occur and even when they don't.

Not going to change where I get my gas from, the local Citgo has the lowest prices for me currently

Isn't Citgo owned by Venuzuala? Just an observation.

Did I hear also, Cavuto might be a very religious Catholic person too. Maybe this was already mentioned. Neil Cavuto is ok but O'Reilly presents an exciting show most often.

Yes, I believe Cavuto is Catholic as is O'Reilly [or was!]. Cavuto gives some great talks at the ends of his programs and they are very thoughtfull.

I like O'Reilly. He can be arrogant at times but he usually knows what he's talking about.

I read somewhere that Exxon's stock prices increased in value by more than 500% during his tenure there. That's generating an awful lot of wealth. How about their market share? What about their profits?

How much has O'Reilly done for the stockholders of Fox? Quite a bit, I'd guess. But has their stock gone up by 500%? Or their profits?

Obviously, the board thought so.

And the key part of your response is "How do we know?" How do we NOT know? Far be it for me to gauge his worthiness. I wouldn't know by which stick to measure it.
I don't think the "simple" life has much to do with it. Many rich people live in simplicity, saving for their future, using their wealth wisely, and leaving estates to their heirs. Those that I know are generous to a fault. There is nothing greedy about that way of life.

True, but other than those issues, he is just as liberal as Colmes.

My wife is primary progressive MS, about to have a baclofen pump/shunt put in. She's tried opiate patches, all the other meds. The pain is worse at times but always there.

I saw it!

Cavuto was gracious as usual...

O'Reilly was arrogant....thought himself more important than the CEO of an oil company....(I'd like to know how much O'R makes :^

Being paid to leave a job is what I'm complaining about. He will not be working for the company anymore. Are you aware of any retirement packages like this? $400 million? Shouldn't it be part of a job description? A pay scale? Voted on by the shareholders? Some accountability?

I mean $400 million to leave the company? And that was an optional severance that they gave him? Can any one person be worth that much?

That pay comes out of the stockholders pockets. It comes out of profits. If the Stockholders don't want to pay it they would elect directors who would not pay it.

I have been president of 3 corporations in my life time. There is huge amount of stress and pressure one has to endure while running a corporation. And it is not easy to get to that position. It takes a person with brains, daring and one willing to take huge personal risks.

People who get to the top have one trait in common. They can get others to do what they want them to do. Top Executive pay has nothing to do with worth. It has everything to do with what they can get the board to pay them. It is the same skill that gets suppliers to supply for less, and workers to work for less. It is the same skill that makes for a good bottom line.

Find a way to make the corporation profits large and the board will pay the president a big chuck of those profits. Sometimes they can convince a board that they can make the profits large and then they fail to do so. A smart guy will have rigged the deal so it costs them a bundle to get rid of the failure.

People who can't get others to do what they want are always appalled by what those who can do it are able to earn big bucks .... even in failure.

This practise of cutting large checks for one who is leaving should be company policy then.

Fox should hire Dobbs, and fire Cavuto.

You're half right - they should hire Dobbs and fire O'Reilly. Or maybe fire Alan Colmes instead.

Be ready to be confused, I know I am. Politics and economics should never mix, but then again, one is the reason for the other.

To answer your question on what is a guest worker program? Right or wrong it is Market forces at work.

What is my View?

The guest worker program is BS and illegals should be deported, but the wages they receive are what they and the market negotiate.....if the wages were too low they would not take the work.

...and yes I know they except lower wages because of the crappy economy they come from.....but is still the Market at work and we are a free enterprise nation. They just should negotiate those wages as LEGAL immigrants.

The real socialism is Davis-Bacon and the BS artificially inflated wages that it causes. That truly drives up costs for everyone to benefit a few.

Though I also believe that Fortune 500 boards are raping the goose, by playing the back scratching game.

I started as a millwright for a fortune 500 company, after I retired from the Navy and I will tell you, if you look at our BOD, they are mostly executives with other Fortune 500 companies. To say there is no collusion in executive salaries is complete ignorance.

You know O'Reilly's gone off the deep end when SNL does a skit that makes fun of him by having a favorable and almost complimentary portrayal of Newt Gingrich--as happened this past Saturday night.

The shareholders determine the pay of the CEO. No surprise, there. Haven't heard them complaining either. The only complaints I have heard are from those "everyman" types, who feel that the "little guy" is getting shafted.
