The President spent the Easter Holiday weekend at Camp David with the first lady and her mother and his parents and daughter Barbra. I am sure the dogs were there but cannot find any mention if Jenna was.

On Sunday the whole family attended church at the chapel at Camp David. Later on they all returned to the White House.

Today is the traditional Easter Egg Roll which has been held in the White House grounds since 1878. The President and First Lady were in attendance for part of the event with the First Lady reading a story to some of the children. See Wolfstar's excellent thread yesterday regarding the history of this event plus some lovely photos of the individual States decorated Easter eggs over the years.Click Here

Later on the President visited Europa Stone Distributors in Sterling, Va where he had a tour of the facility and participated in a roundtable discussion on taxes and the economy. The Treasury Secretary John Snow accompanied him on this visit.

The First Lady and her mother took part in a Japanese Tea Ceremony in Washington, DC, with H.E. Ryozo Kato, Ambassador of Japan to the US, and his wife, Mrs. Hanayo Kato.

The Vice President travelled to Everett, Washington yesterday. He is due to speak at 2 events today; the first in Everett Washington for Second District congressional candidate Doug Roulstone, who's trying to unseat Democrat Representative Rick Larsen. The second event is a McGavick fundraiser in Spokane which is scheduled to take place late afternoon.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

QUOTE OF THE DAY
President Participates in Roundtable on Taxes and the Economy
Europa Stone Distributors, Inc.
Sterling, Virginia

THE PRESIDENT: I want to thank Carlos and Owen and Adam for inviting us to their business. I also want to thank the other folks that we had a discussion with for coming over. We've got folks that have benefited from the tax relief, both as a small business owner and/or an employee -- except for Mike; he's a firefighter. And it's been a good discussion.

Here's what I come away with. One, the tax relief helped small businesses a lot. And since small businesses create two-thirds of the new jobs of America, it is no wonder that our job base is expanding. When you help the small business owner with tax relief, you're helping to create employment. And that's what we're seeing across the country. We've added 5.1 million new jobs in the last two-and-a-half years. A lot of it has to do with the fact that our small business owners are confident, and they're investing and they're expanding the job base.

And what's interesting is the tax relief is set to expire. Actually, there's some Democrats in Congress who would like to raise taxes now. And if that happens, it will be a tax increase no one expects, no one wants. It will be like getting hit by one of these granite rocks.

And so I strongly urge the United States Congress to understand the positive effects of the tax relief and to keep the taxes low -- keep the taxes low on the working people, keep the taxes low on these small business owners, so that we continue -- so that we can continue to be an economy that leads the world.

And I want to thank you for your time, letting us come by. It's Tax Day. And it's a day to recommit ourselves to low taxes. It's a day that understands that when these people filing out their forms and writing checks to the government that it's the people's money that's coming to Washington, D.C. And we intend to let the people keep more of their own money, for the sake of the economy and for the sake of our families.

So thanks for letting us come by. Appreciate your hard work. I love the fact that you're living the American Dream.

Patriot´s Day

This is the third Monday in April and this year is on Easter Monday.

Patriot's Day commemorates the battle of Lexington and Concord which were fought on April 19, 1775. Part of the history of this famous revolutionary battle was the midnight ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes. The Sons of the American Revolution in Massachusetts were largely responsible for the official recognition of the event.

Today only a few states recognize the holiday; however, its celebrations are known by many. Besides several reenactments of the famous midnight ride, there are other festivities including professional baseball games and the running of the Boston Marathon.

Thank you Meg33 for the link for above info Patriot's Day

Patriot's Day Parade

Members of the Lexington Training Band (later known as the Minutemen) gather on the Green to await the column of British Regulars as they march into the town center during a reenactment in Lexington on Monday. On April 19, 1775, a shot rang out, a skirmish followed, and what what effectively became the first battle of the American Revolution got underway.

The President looks haggard in that photo. I cannot imagine the pressure he endures each and every day dealing with idiots.

I was there this morning at 0530. And I was NOT too amazed to see how the idiot liberals of New England have long forsaken their roots when it comes to such things. While there they all enjoyed a re-enactment of a time when people stood up to tyranny which had at its foundation the issue of taxation. Yet this state, of which I am a former resident and was born in, has so long ago forsaken an education that tells people of how wrong government is to overstep its bounds has now embraced the idea that Judges reign supreme, the people must just shut up and pay ever increasing taxes (which are far greater in their level then what our forefathers revolted about).

Oh, I enjoyed it, I also took my HOME-SCHOOLED kids to see it, and had a great time at Concord bridge as well. I hope that this nation returns to its roots.
