I actually think this is close to the same treatment that President Lincoln had but on a proportional scale.
Educate me. Did the generals campaign against Lincoln's reelection? Did they call for the resignation of the Secretary of War or the President? I know that there were "political generals" appointed by the President and that in some cases had little or no background in military matters, but rather were professional politicians.
Lincoln had it a little worse than Bush does with these 6. Half of Lincoln's generals at the beginning of his first term, including the man he offered command of the Union army, actually took up arms against him and his country and fought a war.
Funny, they were Democrats then, too. And when they lost those democrats put on white sheets with pointy hoods and began lynching folks. Gee, maybe it is kind of like today. Maybe we just haven't gotten to that part of their plan yet. After all, they've proven over and over they only have one playbook and they trot out the same tricks, with minor variations, regardless of the issues.
