HAPPY EASTER!!!!!
GOOD MORNING!
Wow! the little ones woke me up- excited to find their candy.....
I actually got here before there were 100 posts to try and catch up on!
;-)
McInnerny brought up good points and Clark was his usual Weasely self. I am please that Fox finally decided to put a counter position against Clark...for too long he has been allowed to spout his "military opinion " without rebuttal.
Well, for goodness sake. I worry about spelling McInnerny and totally garbled RUMSFELD. Need...more...coffee.
It is annoying how the MSM considers him a military genius.
Good to hear. Looks like MTP is gonna take a whack at the Catholic Church. (In other news, the sun rose in the east this morning,)
Looks like ABC will talk about so-called Rummy-revolt.
Who are these generals? -> Daniel Engber explains in Slate.
About 4,700 general officers are enjoying their retirement in the United States right now. That means the six former generals who stepped forward to criticize Rumsfeld make up about one-tenth of 1 percent of the total community.
In March, five of them wrote a letter to the Supreme Court asking that Justice Scalia recuse himself from the Hamdan case. In January, nine generals and three admirals banded together as the "Retired Generals Against Torture" and sent an open letter to the Senate judiciary committee. These generals are moveon.org-generals & should be exposed.
According to a memo released by the Pentagon just this past Friday, there are over 8,000 retired and active duty flag officers (900 are active duty).
"Slate" is calling these six "the less then one tenth of one percent generals".
Interestingly enough, Slate also points outs that TWELVE retired generals publicly complained about the appointment of Gonzales to Attorney General.
Slate's numbers were off by about half...the DoD on Friday put it at over 8,000 active and retired (900 active).
After Vatican officials ordered Chittister's superior, Prioress Christine Vladimiroff, to bar Chittister from speaking, Vladimiroff met with the sisters in Erie and all but one of them voted to oppose the ban.
Chittister delivered her address, and the Vatican backed away from its threat of a "just penalty."
Sitting in the lounge of a home in which her office is located near the Lake Erie waterfront, Chittister said she would like to be known for her advocacy for the world's poor and her pursuit of peacemaking.
But like it or not, as the Roman Catholic Church struggles to find enough clergy to serve its parishioners, the issue of women's ordination, not to mention married priests, won't go away.
Neither will her uncomfortable questions.
"I have simply argued for years that if a woman is not half a person, if she is really a full person ---- if her baptism is really as authentic as anyone else's baptism, and her call to discipleship is as deep as anyone else's, then don't we have to discuss the theological implications of this as a church?
Link.
Nice secular line-up... maybe they'll discuss the pagan origins of the holiday.
You 're right, CWOJackson. DOD numbers should be right and Slate admits it calculated roughly. Nonetheless, MSM should be ashamed, for not doing the homework and following NYT or AP for cluelessness.
It's not just the MSM...pat buchanan is touting this bilge and a lot of Freepers agree with him.
