YES, clampling down on businesses that directly hire illegals is an obvious solution.

Sorry, I know this is not what Freepers what to hear but this is NOT a problem that has any easy answers.

I am so glad to have hung on this thread for the first time today. Finally, thoughtful and respectful postings, unlike SO much of the board.

IMO, there is NO solution to this problem short of the National Identity Card. I have begged people to show me a plan for securing our borders. Still waiting.

Why? Because it can't be physically done. Hell, people break out of prison on a regular basis. Humans are very ingenious when they want to get from one place to another.

So, I must conclude that the President's plan is all that has even a chance for helping the situation. Panacea? Of course not. Doable with some hope for improving the situation? Yes

Boyd was an eccentric genius.

Would that make him like Hyman G. Rickover?  Rickover was definitely a genius, but... well, I don't know if eccentric would be the right word for Rickover.  Eccentric implies a bit of whimsy.  That would leave out Rickover from what I've read, but he was... unique, shall we say.  Very different from how you describe Boyd, but certainly memorable.

Would you put someone like Billy Mitchell in that same category?

comes in at 5-10 billion to do the job first class.

That seems low. Plus what is the ongoing expense of patrolling such?

So Newt didn't lie about it in a civil court case and his adultry was consentual. Newt still lost a lot of credibility over it and I don't blame his wife for trying to take him to the cleaners. If you don't want to stay married why stay married and have an affair; just divorce and get it over with and then marry the person you want to be with.

I wouldn't vote for Newt in the presidential primaries because of this myself.

How can that be if they are celibate?

It is not a familial succession. It is passed down in the ordination - "laying on of hands" that transmits the charism (gift of the Holy Spirit) that make a man a priest.

Happy Easter---Once more, Britt put the Generals issue in proper perspective. Their complaints are three years or more old. I think he would make a great political candidate but that would remove the one reason for paying my satellite bill each month. The talking heads that continue to claim that these retired generals just popped up independently to denounce Rumsfeld undermine their own credibility. The media continues to refuse to admit the obvious orchestration behind these retired military geniuses and the RAT agenda of using the military to undermine President Bush. As for Kristol, like McCain, he takes away from Republicans far more than he gives. The White House and the Republican party will have to be pro active in refuting lies and defending President Bush to a degree that they may be unaccustomed to. This election cycle is do or die time for the RATS and pretty close to that for Republicans as well. Newt can be so persuasive and is truly a brilliant political analyst and I hope he is put to good use by the Republican party. IMO he is a good leader, in a non elective political position. Mitch McConnell is another Republican that we can thank God for. Dodd was and is no match for anybody with as much common sense and smarts as Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell.

I doubt if it's more than we are spending now,due to the unorganized manner of the present border.I've been reading immigration threads for over a year and the figure is very close.

But doesn't follow Biblical tradition. JC's lineage can be traced by familial succession from King David can he not?

To: maica; ALOHA RONNIE

I seem to recall a block of military resignations during the clinton time. They did it enmasse as the only way to legally express their disgust. The media didn't report it, and if it got any mention by-the-by, they were all dismissed as 'disgruntled.'

Ronnie, I'm thinking you might remember this, or could guess show would remember it. :-)

The Pentagon is full of Generals with NO command. My guess is that Rumsfeld is encouraging these people to leave. They care only about themselves and have no interest in what is best for the country.

Same going on at State and CIA. President Bush is clearing out the deadwood and the socialists, and they are fighting back hard.

I haven't scratched the surface of Rumsfeld's impressive resume, which is replete with outstanding management and executive performances.

I laughed outloud when a newsreader quoted one of these grumpy "generals" as saying that Rumsfeld "lacked leadership skills". LOL! What a fool.

Apples and oranges, that. Yes. Our Lord's genealogy is related twice in the Gospels. One traces Him to Matthew and one to Adam, iirc.

This to confirm His humanity and patrimony; that is to fulfill the promises to Israel.

The Apostles were the men whom He chose to bear witness to His teaching and life. And to commit them to faithful men you would preserve them for the next generation. The Bishops (both Catholic and Orthodox believe) are the bearers of that to this day.
