You said: What I find disturbing is the growing and unprecedented trend toward politization of the military, CIA, and the diplomatic corps, which both parties, but primarily the Dems, have fostered along with the willing cooperation of some in those organizations

I don't think you should add the military in there. Other organizations you mention, yeah, probably, but .001 percent or whatever it was doesn't amount to a mass protest.

I wonder if their little conservative friends say to them something like, "gee your Mom/Dad really got that News story wrong last night, let me tell you the real truth". Conservative kids play computer games too but they are much more informed.

It looks as though Father Neuhaus is calling upon the Lord himself to stop himself from throwing a left jab at her head.

The Church will change it's position someday, but in the meantime, it's a valid argument.

No. That will not happen. Women cannot be priests. Married men can be (and are.)

And it's not a "position." It's an integral part of what the Church IS.

LOL. Just chatter from Red Flags gone by. We used to marvel at the scarf variations we would see in your boys as they mustered each day for the briefing. The way you guys would color match with your patch, especially the Eagle drivers with the cowboy hats with the strings on them. LOL. I asked one dude "Hey buddy, is that your G-scarf? Where do you plug in the air?" He instantly wanted to fight. Air Force always showed up with clean birds and clean gear, and we showed up leaking fluids and smelling like last nights beer. And then, we would proceed to whip your ass. I miss Red Flag.

I agree

the Bible is clear that women should not have AUTHORITY over men in the church...

they most certainly can be wonderful teachers...but shuold not hold authority...although there was a woman Judge in the Bible..Debra?..but I believe she "served" under her husband? not sure... someone else will know more on this- I am sure you do....

"Network of Spiritual Progressives?"

Yeah. Rabbi: "My parents would not have come to America if they thought it was a Christian nation." Gack. This is what chaps me. The demonizing of the culture that produced the values that even enabled the birth of the Republic.

The absolute ignorance is breathtaking!

You said: Kristol just agreed that Rumsfeld should resign "for the good of the country."

Everytime Kristol says one good thing, he says ten stupid things to make up for it.

In Boston all traffic laws are strictly advisory.

And don't get me started on the "California lane change."

In Memphis we've got our share of bad drivers, but the real menace here are the roadways. Main thoroughfares that suddenly go from 4 lanes to two very narrow ones (with ditches on either side) and then back again with no warning, or 6 lane major roadways squeezed into the space that should only allow for 4 lanes.

When we moved here we were told "Learn Poplar Avenue because everything you'll want to get to is somewhere close to Poplar Avenue. Then spend the rest of your life in Memphis learning how to avoid Poplar Avenue."

If 90% are Republican, then you should be GLAD the democrats are after the remaining 10% - you are the one who wants balance.

Balance? I never used that word. I don't want the military or the Foreign Service or the CIA politicized. That seems to be happening more and more.

ANd retired folks ARE allowed to speak their minds on national issues. There is nothing strange or wrong about it.

Of course they are. But to what end and for what purpose? There is no way we can muzzle them except for some rules on reemployment and clearance policies on what they write in order to protect classified information.

It is up to the retired generals/admirals, diplomats, and spooks to exercise some self-restraint recognizing the full implications of what they are doing. They are entering the political arena as a group (not as individuals), which I don't feel is in the long term interests of the country. There is already a tension between career USG employees and political appointees. If the political appointee has to worry that the career employee is going to use "insider" information publicly as a club to discredit the administration's policies, what does that do to the functioning of our government?

The Democrats have had problems with the public perception that they are weak on defense. They see these few disgruntled flag officers as a way to undermine Bush and the war. The generals are just as much tools as Cindy Sheehan. Of course, the disgruntled generals also have their own personal agendas and ambitions. Post #199 provides some of their possible motivations.

What we are witnessing now is unprecedented. Where were the disgruntled generals during the Clinton administration? How were they covered by the MSM?

That's part of it, ec. The RC (and Orthodox Christian) churches in our sacramental theology, see the priest as an image (icon) of Christ. And it means something that Jesus was a man not a woman.

Why the Father did not beget a Daughter instead of a Son is His business. Ours is to not second guess and jigger around with what has been delivered.

Which is what Sr Joan is ALL about. Having abandoned the Catholic Church, she's the High Priestess of the Church of What's Happening Now!

Arguing with you and Don about this is like arguing with a mother-in-law who thinks Clinton was a great president.

I agree..
they have the RIGHT to say whatever they like...

that does not mean that I won't attack their poor judgement and motives in doing so...

it's like the parents who raise "white power" kids and "black power" kids...do they have the right to?- sure..but that doesn't mean I won't call them racists and a danger to our country and society.....let alone to our future...

I never said mass protest. There has not been any mass protests by the CIA or the State Department either. When you have retired flag officers and ambassadors attacking, as a group, administration policies, it becomes big news, especially with a partisan MSM.
