And sending in more troops would have further depleted state militias (national guard) and reserves who otherwise man police and fire departments (first responders) and garner more criticism from MSM that Dubya has left us defenseless on the home front, yada yada.

These generals are sore that umpteen divisions weren't used instead of the lean and mean troops which brought down Hussein and set the Iraqi's free. Sour grapes imo that THEY didn't have their way.

Rumsfeld's way of handling the Saddam take down saved many American soldiers lives. If we went in like these "Generals" wanted, the casulty list,(the list the left constantly points to) would have been much bigger.

ast National ratings for Thursday, April 13, 2006

Absence apparently didn't make hearts grow fonder for "Commander In Chief," which returned with little fanfare to ABC Thursday. CBS scored a resounding ratings win, more than doubling the numbers its closest competitor. The CBS dominance continued at 10 p.m. as "Without a Trace" scored a 12.3/21. "Commander In Chief" scored a 5.3/9 in its return, well below its average on Tuesdays earlier in the season. An "ER" rerun on NBC came in at 4.3/7.

The MSM has a plan of rolling attacks.

Get Scalia

Get Cheney

Get Rumsfeld

Get Chertoff

They just roll along with the never ending criticism.

They couldn't Get Bush out of office so now they're on the censure or impeach bandwagon.

A pox on the them all.

Shame on you. Turn them off after the Hemorrhoid ointment ads, before the adult diaper ads come on!

The Pentagon is full of Generals with NO command.

My guess is that Rumsfeld is encouraging these people to leave.

They care only about themselves and have no interest in what is best for the country.

Mark Kilmer's preview comments from RedState.COM:

Who's on the Sunday Morning Talk Shows

For Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006

Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert has another panel, this one on religion (and babble). His guests will be Sister Joan Chittister, Rabbi Michael Lerner, Prof. Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, Pastor Joel Osteen, and Russert's own spiritual advisor (it seems), Newsweek magazine's Jon Meacham. Meacham will provide the babble and the spiritual je ne sais quoi. (And I really don't know what!)

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace will chat with Senators Mitch McConnell and Chris Dodd about Iran and Newt Gingrich about how badly he thinks the GOP needs him.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer hosts New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Virginia Senator George Allen.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos will talk to retired General Richard Myers about Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and six lonely generals. Then he'll talk to Dick Lugar and Evan Bayh, at which time Bayh will again appear very Presidential for the viewers in Indiana. (I think Steph might be in double figures now.)

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer has Iraq's ambassador to the United States, Samir Sumaidaie. He'll also talk to Diane Feinstein, Duncan Hunter, Hank Kissinger, and the Reverend Falwell.
-----

Tomorrow is Easter and I will miss the shows, but as always, let us know what you saw. In case you weren't aware, Bill Richardson is the smartest energy secretary we've every had the most brilliant U.N. ambassador since Moynihan. (This is what we're told.) If you see Fr. Neuhaus on MTP, don't take the risks involved with quoting him. I might record Steph's show just to see General Myers.

Have a joyous Easter, even if you do not celebrate it. If you do, though, you know what I mean when I say, "joyous."

It looks like ABC added General Myers at the last moment.  He wasn't listed when I pulled their guests for the weekend preview thread.  That means that, at least for that segment, they didn't take the weekend off, though it may have been taped yesterday.  It'll be interesting to see if they work in topical references, such as the car bombing this morning.

From my understanding things work slightly different in Britain the chief joints of staff are given their remit from Defence Secretary who of course gets his orders from the Prime Minister as to what the object of the campaign is and then it is up to military to achieve it.

Our Secretary of Denfence does not get involved in operational issues.

By default of course the politicians do have a say because really how the military can conduct the campaign is very much governed by how the politicians have carved up various companies and what area budgets/investment in personnel and equipment has been increased or cut etc.

Isn't it horrible and mind boggling that there are some who for political gain actually use the number of dead heroes to negate this country's efforts to bring freedom to entire nations?
