President Bush said Friday that embattled Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has his "full support and deepest appreciation."

"Earlier today I spoke with Don Rumsfeld about ongoing military operations in the Global War on Terror," Bush said in a written statement released by the White House. "I reiterated my strong support for his leadership during this historic and challenging time for our Nation."

"Upon assuming office, I asked Don to transform the largest department in our government," the president's statement continued.

I personally think Rumsfeld should step aside as Secretary of Defense. He should assume control of the State Department under President Rice.

(half kidding)

Nice article. Doesn't mention one of the support things Batiste said re: Rumsfeld a couple of years ago. (See Rush's show today.)

Poll 86 Yes 14 No That's shocking how the drive by media can decide to run a hit on someone, and too many follow.

No one reads actual articles. Headlines are all that matters to the I'm-too-busy-to-pay-attention-to-politics-but-still-have-to-vote-out-of-guilt American.

"He should assume control of the State Department under President Rice."

He'd enjoy good relations with Chief of Staff Rove.

Rumsfeld has done the best he could in a thankless job under trying conditions and restricted by the political correctness which plagues us.

Personally I would rather have Genghis Khan directing our war effort, but he's presently unavailable. The people attacking Rumsfeld would rather have Goldilocks or Snow White.

The seven Jackels in Generals' suits who have been attacking him are reminiscent of the Conway Cabal.

After thinking about this we have a near constitutional crisis going on here...

We have the Dems actively organizing CIA and State employees to usurp the elected leadership.

Now they are going after the military...these guys are retired, but whats the next step?

We hated Clinton during the 90's, you never heard this classless stuff out of ex-Flag Officers.

Were these Judases given their raise to rank under Clinton?

Wasn't Zinni a Clinton man?

Thank God for Rush. He makes clear what otherwise would have been either obsfucated or unnoticed/unmentioned.

Sadly, the full story of the global war on terror won't be told any time soon. When everything is out, declassified, I have a hunch Bush and Rumsfeld will be vindicated in all that was done.

Ditto what the President said about Secretary Rumsfeld!

He has my support, deepest appreciation, and heartfelt admiration for his service to our country, and for the strong, straightforward, yet courteous, way he responds to those who don't seem to have it in them to disagree with him with the same courtesy.

He can't be contacted by e-mail at DoD, but here is his snail-mail address if you want to send him a note of support:

Zinni was a Clinton man.

Hey Zinni....It was wrongheaded to send COLE into Yemen!

A little criticism from a retired Senior Chief.

Just heard on FOX News that Zinni was calling around and emailing to organize this little junta.

BTW Thanks for the contaminated batch of Anthrax vaccine back in 97' Zinni!
