In Oakland?! THe gunfire detection system there is called "ears."
To: dynachrome
All nonsense..
It's been a few years, but I recall that all previous tests on these systems have shown them to be rather useless..
Also rather expensive..
Sounds like politicians lining their pockets to me..

from the article it seems pretty slick. it cant pick up human voice, but can pinpoint and contact the police regarding gunfire.

51 to 49 for common sense.
A gunshot detection system? I didn't read the article, but huh? As somebody else posted, isn't that what ears are for?

I've been told the system they have in Baghdad works very well at locating which area sniper fire came from.

"locating which area sniper fire came from."
I'm thinking that in parts of Oakland it would be from 3600

I bet all it will do is confirm what we already suspect: There is a lot of gunfire in Oakland.
