I was just looking at Allens website for his senate re-election bid, his philosophy on Government is near perfect!! He has an all American family and his wife just has that first lady look to her which complements George's Presidential leadership 'vibe' Any FReepers know more about allen? Is his name being tossed around for 2008?

Fine. He was even later to endorse Bush than I thought.

No, you're misreading that...He did say...So, I think all of them go together. It’s a comprehensive approach. Do you need me to provide a definition of comprehensive? Or can you look that up yourself?

No, YOU'RE misreading it.

His entire emphasis is on a guest worker program, after he would "securing the border" (wink, wink) with UNMANNED aircraft that would supposedly watch the border.

It's a cream puff approach.

"If the all or nothings understood that, we'd be a lot closer to solving these problems. But they don't want that. They just want to win arguments."

Unfortunately that is too often true.

Keyes didn't drop out and endorse Bush until July 25th, 2000; you were right there with him, bud.

I wish Allan had a firm anti-amnesty opinion. He doesn't.

And if Allen is the best the GOP has to offer then the party is in deep trouble.

Uhmmm...yeah.

You're trying to use that to prove your lie that I didn't support him until April 2003? I don't get it...

Sadly, you're right.

Allen is playing with the words, just like our current president. Both say they are "against amnesty," yet they favor legalizing illegals through a guest worker program.

It's a bit of word-smithing on their part.

Meanwhile, George Allen even opposes sanctions on employers who hire illegals.

I was already offered a position with one candidate who shares Senator Allen's misplaced belief in them. I turned him down...

His loss, I'm sure. ;-)

I know you're not big on answering questions, but I'll try again anyway. Your responses or nonresponses are instructional to the lurkers.

Ed Gillespie, leader of the open borders lobby, beneficiary of millions from the Chamber of Commerce, is now George Allen's chief money man. He runs the Senators PAC...a very key slot.

Gillespie is partnered in his lobbying firm with Jack Quinn, former top lawyer for Bill Clinton. They've made tens of millions during this administration as Ed has shuttled back and forth between the WH and the Party and K Street.

My question is this: Does this mean that Bill Clinton's top lawyer could also be considered to be on the Allen team?

And we've been over that Human Events article numerous times. It's a selectively edited hit piece. Nothing more.

Read this:
Taking a leadership roll on the issues of illegal immigration, securing our borders and national security, Sen. George Allen, R-Va., made several trips to radio row in order to broadcast his message across the country. He stressed the importance of securing our borders for national security and of stopping illegal immigration, which is draining state coffers.
NewMax, May 2, 2005

Read this:
Allen also said he was one of the few Senators to meet with the Minutemen project organizers and that he "supported" them and understood them.
FreeRepublic, May 2, 2005

Read this:
On immigration, Mr. Allen, whose mother emigrated from France, is clear. His take is more like that of a House Republican than a senator. "I don't want to argue anybody's particular bill," he says. "First thing we need to do, and should have done, is [secure] our borders. We needed fences, whether virtual or physical, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned ground sensors, detention centers. . . . If that's all that can be done, do that now. Don't allow a lack of a consensus [on guest workers or other immigration issues] to prevent what needs to be done."

Mr. Allen is not sympathetic to allowing illegal immigrants living in the U.S. to "earn" citizenship without returning to their home country. If they want to work legally, "I think they have to go back . . . and apply to come in here as a temporary worker. If they want to become a citizen, go through the process of becoming a citizen." Anything short of that, he says, "rewards illegal behavior."
Wall Street Journal, April 22, 2006

Read this:
Unprompted, he continued that he and Bush "agree on most issues, some we disagree on." Immigration, Allen offered again unprompted, was one of the latter.
The Hotline, April 20, 2006

Read this:
2008 presidential hopeful George Allen urged his Senate colleagues on Sunday to "put the pedal to the metal" on immigration reform and "first and foremost, secure the borders."

"[For] the people out there in the real world . . . this is a hot issue," Sen. Allen told CBS's "Face the Nation." "I think the Senate needs to put the pedal to the metal, get moving, make decisions and first and foremost, secure the borders."

On some of the amnesty bills currently before Congress, Allen said: "We should not reward illegal behavior because all you'll get is more illegal behavior."

Guest worker=amnesty in my humble opinion.

I am quite familiar with the word smything of politicians. I've been watching them a LONG TIME.

Allen has got to come down more decisively AGAINST amnesty.

Just read something on FR yesterday that had him listed as still 'undecided'.

I think it was on a thread that onyx posted.

He should remember that since he brokered the deal:

I personally met with Karl Rove in the convention hall in Philadelphia to bring that about.

Someone listed where many of the Congressman and Senators stood on the issue. I copied it for personal reference.
