Mexico’s Ideal Immigration Law--Let’s try it here at home
Center for Security Policy ^ | April 13, 2006 | J. Michael Waller

Posted on 04/13/2006 8:08:37 AM PDT by Ooh-Ah

Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. However, Mexican officials haven’t been sharing that idea with us as they press for our Congress to adopt the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform bill.

That’s too bad, because Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States does, has much to teach us about how it handles the immigration issue. At a time when the Supreme Court and many politicians seek to bring American law in line with foreign legal norms, it’s noteworthy that nobody has argued that the US look at how Mexico deals with immigration and what it might teach us about how best to solve our illegal immigration problem.

Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:

The law also ensures that:

Who could disagree with such a law?  It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution strictly defines the rights of citizens – and the denial of many fundamental rights to non-citizens, illegal and illegal. Under the constitution, the Ley General de Población, or General Law on Population, spells out specifically the country’s immigration policy.

It is an interesting law – and one that should cause us all to ask, Why is our great southern neighbor pushing us to water down our own immigration laws and policies, when its own immigration restrictions are the toughest on the continent?

If the United States adopted the law, Mexico no doubt would denounce it as a manifestation of American racism and bigotry.

We looked at the immigration provisions of the Mexican constitution. Now let’s look at Mexico’s main immigration law.

Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:

Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:

Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:

Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned:

Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,

Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:

All of the above runs contrary to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico’s immigration practices versus its American immigration preachings is telling. It gives a clear picture of the Mexican government’s agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.

Let’s call Mexico’s bluff on its unwarranted interference in U.S. immigration policy. Let’s propose, just to make a point, that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member nations standardize their immigration laws by using Mexico’s own law as a model.

I don't guess the author listens to Rush?

Wait...this won't work for America.

Why you ask?

Because America is majority white. Thus, if we do this, we are racist. You see, only white people can be racist. If we try this model, we would be preventing the "browning" of America.

Our nation is led by vote pandering fools on both sides of the isle.

Tancredo ought to offer this exact legislation as a model bill based on our neighbor's to the South.

The fact is, the ruling class of Mexico is white. The majority Mestizo population are second-class citizens in their own country. It's reminiscient of Apartheid-era South Africa.

Oh, I am pretty sure that the laws of the USA are very, very similar. But, just because one has certain laws does NOT mean they enforce them.

But, here's one sure bet....get caught in Mexico doing something illegal and your butt lands in their jail. You may never see your momma again.

The Center for Security Policy is a conservative think tank and has been around at least as long as Rush. Rush has on occasion used CSP writings as sources for his monologues.

So its quite possible that CSP was first and not in a "Sissy Matthews" way either.

Surf their site sometime.

This is one adoption of foreign law that I'd support.

I'm just glad Mexico's immigration laws are getting some attention and publicity.

Big Media surely would post a comparison, but I'd like to see someone at Fox do it.

To understand Mexico, it is necessary to view the nation's long early history. Hundreds of years ago, the Indians of Mexico built large cities, developed a calendar, invented a counting system, and used a form of writing. The last Indian empire in Mexico—that of the Aztec—fell to Spanish invaders in 1521. For the next 300 years, Mexico was a Spanish colony. The Spaniards took Mexico's riches, but they also introduced many changes in farming, government, industry, and religion. The descendants of the Spaniards became Mexico's ruling class. The Indians remained poor and uneducated.

During the Spanish colonial period, a third group of people developed in Mexico. These people, who had both Indian and white ancestors, became known as mestizos. Today, the great majority of Mexicans are mestizos, and they generally take great pride in their Indian ancestry. A number of government programs stress the Indian role in Mexican culture. In 1949, the government made an Indian the symbol of Mexican nationality. The Indian was Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec emperor. Cuauhtemoc's bravery under torture by the Spanish made him a Mexican hero.

Let's push Washington DC to adopt the equivalent of this.

Somehow I don't see a lot of people trying to immigrate to Mexico. After all who would want to?

"Immigration officials must “ensure” that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and for their dependents. (Article 34)"

aka bring "mucho dinero". Mexicans want American money in their country. The peso has been devalued to the point where it's only worth small change. They'll go so far as to invent a law to seize your personal property, put you in jail, and blackmail your relatives to get you out of jail.

I remember Tijuana when their "pueblos" were made out of cardboxes or crates. They had no sanitation, ate beans and tortillas morning, noon, and night. They froze in the winter, so Americans would gather sweaters, coats, and blankets for them.

It was through the sympathy of Americans that Tijuana grew and blossomed. Doctors still perform surgeries for FREE for the poorer.

Mexico has long played on the sympathies of Americans. Now it's time for them to put up or shut up!

I don't care if we are called names like racist. This isn't about race, it's about the sovreignty of our nation. We should reciprocate in kind.

Every person here illegally should be sent back home at their own expense and not allowed to apply to come back in to the US for a period not less than 20 years.

Build the wall at BOTH borders and man it with armed guards, patrol it with the same kind of drones our military uses and mine it if necessary. Patrol the coastlines and stop illegals from getting drivers licenses, getting jobs and receiving benefits. Make those guilty of being here without the benefit of papers felons and deny the anchor baby benefit to anyone here without documentation. Don't allow money to be sent out of our country to countries like Mexico who encourage their citizens to break our laws.

The Limbaugh Laws on Immigration:

First, if you immigrate to the United States of America, you must speak the native language.

Secondly, you have to be a professional or an investor. Unskilled workers will not be allowed.

There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your native language.

Foreigners will not have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here, nor will they ever be allowed to hold political office.

According to the Limbaugh Laws, if you're in our country, you cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled, ever, to welfare, to food stamps, or other government goodies.

You can come if you invest here, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If you don't know have that amount of money, you can't come and invest. You have to stay home.

If you do come and you want to buy land, okay, but we're going to restrict your options. You will not be allowed to buy waterfront property in the United States.

That will be reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.

In fact, as a foreigner, you must relinquish individual rights to property.

You don't have the right to protest when you come here. You're allowed no demonstrations, you cannot wave a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, or you get sent home. You're a foreigner. You shut your mouth or you get out, and if you come here illegally, you go straight to jail and we're going to hunt you down 'til we find you.

These are the Limbaugh Laws----pretty harsh, eh?

Now brace yourself: Every one of the Limbaugh Laws mentioned above are actual laws of Mexico on the books today----this is Mexican immigration law and how the Mexican government handles immigrants to their country.

Now isn't it ironic that Mexicans and others smeak across our borders illegally, they protest in our streets, they get on our welfare program, and members of the United States Senate of both parties, are doing handstands and back flips, going through every contortion possible to allow it to continue just so it doesn't make these illegals mad.

And, if we still refuse to enforce our laws, America is on its way to becoming a Third World Nation.

Mexico Admits Poor Treatment of Migrants

Mexico's federal Human Rights Commission acknowledged that the country uses some of the same methods in dealing with illegal migrants that it has criticized the United States for employing. "Of course, Mexico's population law includes prison terms for illegally entering the country," said Indignacio Hermano, spokesman for the commission. "We figure anyone who would sneak into our nation must be criminally insane. Such persons must be locked up as a public safety matter."
