Poll: Sinking Perceptions Of Islam
CBS NEWS ^ | 04/12/06 | CBS NEWS

CBS) Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable.

Forty-five percent of respondents queried April 6 - 9 said they have an unfavorable view of Islam, a rise from 36 percent in February. And the public’s impression of Islam has diminished even more compared with four years ago. In February 2002 – less than six months after the terrorist attacks of September 11 – the country was evenly divided in its impression of Islam.

With the Internet, it's easy to obtain information about anything. The hard part is getting people interested enough to bother researching the religion. Since the beheadings, suicide bombings, rapes, honor killings, marrying 9-year-olds, killing apostates and their families don't seem to do it, I would say the best bet in sparking interest is to bring attention to the racism (specifically towards blacks and Jews) in the religious texts. There has to be some way for the left to open their eyes and stop catering to the people who want our country and all its citizens obliterated.

Notice that the results you cite refer to the religion, not to the adherents to it. I've known several Mormons and each one of them is a great guy, the sort you would want as a neighbor and a co-worker. But the religion is another matter.

Do the Mormons advocate the killing of those that oppose them? That is the bottom line.

As a marketing plan, Islam sucks.

With the publicity that's being given to the movie about Flight 93, and hearing the bloodthirsty murderers scream about how great allah is on the way down, it's only a matter of time before all America is aware of islam's downside. There is no upside.

"Sinking and swirling like just after one flushes."

'I'll take PLUMBING for $500.00, Alex!'
'Sinking and swirling!'
'What are the perceptions of Islam?'
'Correct!'
'POLITICS for $1,000.00, Alex!'

Notice the insane assumption built into the first line of this article. It assumes that because Americans "know more about Islam" that more Americans "would have a favorable impression." Seems to be a Religion-of-Peace bias going on in the editorial department.

P.S. I have an early primary for Congress in the 11th District of North Carolina, 2 May, less than a month away. Please visit my website in the tagline, and help however you can.

And what, besides the LameStream media treatment of fundamentalist Christians, makes them worthy of a 31% Favorable AND Unfavorable poll?

Man, what is it with people's views of Mormons, it's almost the same as Islam? What have they done to deserve this?

This is very interesting. During World War II the entertainers in our nation did almost nothing but support the war and denigrade the enemy. Now it is almost opposite.

The surprising thing isn't that we think less favorably about a culture we now know intends to annihilate us, but that we are so tolerant as not to have proposed a 'final solution' to the 'Islamic problem'.

Re: Posts 3 and 4.

Ditto and ditto. Seemed like a pretty self evident one-liner by the CBS folks: "Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable."

Other than knocking on my door and annoying the heck out of me, nothing. Then again my Pastor was raised Mormon and is what he refers to now as a "Recovered Mormon."

I asked him once what was wrong with Mormons, he said "ask them what ANY verse of the the Bible says." They usually don't know the Bible very well at all.

Thank God we are led by a President that understands this completely

Really? Is there a different President out there that I haven't heard about that DOESN'T refer to the Islamic Death Cult as a "Religion of Peace?"
