Weve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Dont forget to vote! Wink, wink. Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such friendly reminders are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you havent voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)
But there seems to be a new Republicans vote on Wednesday taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.
[snip]
But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to spread the word (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.
The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have had it with Republicans.

I agree he's not a Democrat as the party now represents itself, but I'm old enough to remember conservative Democrats. I do believe that Bush is to the left of Kennedy, Truman, Stevenson etc.
have been here a long time, and one thing I have noticed is that there is a certain type of poster who is ALWAYS more conservative than the President. Besides ranting about immigration and CFR and the education bill, they also think we aren't killing enough terrorists, that the tax cuts weren't good enough, that he should have already reformed or abolished Social Security, that he should pull out of the UN right now, etc. etc.
There is one difference between the Rightwing Feverswampers and the Leftwing Feverswampers. We don't really put ours in Congress or allow them to take over the movement.
Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Good reminder from Jim's link
Thanks doodlelady, it seemed appropriate to post a message from Free Republics founder, who has the only authority to dictate Free Republic's "Mission Statement".
It is how dems play the game. They also write letter to our President, House and Senate members with cry stories pushing liberal ideas one "exception" at a time. And they do come here to steal our phrases, words, and ways to use against the people we support. If you wanted to do an "authentic" imitation of them you'd also have to call CSPAN, tell them you're a "moderate" and give the same cheap labor spiel. I have the feeling if we did it in droves, CSPAN would catch on and stop it.
I think I may have to sign up on DU to complain about how the democrats are selling out me and my union brothers to get cheap labor. Everyone in the unions should stay home on election day to protest what the democrats are doing.

And anyone who calls for IMPEACHMENT should be dismissed out of hand. and run off this board!
There are lots of wolves claiming to be sheep around here. DON'T FALL FOR THEIR LINES!
Definitely informative!
The book tells us how the left infiltrates sites like this one and stirs dissent and trying to move Republicans to a position we wouldn't otherwise take.
The transparency of some of these posters is unbelieveable. They're not even clever pseudo-conservatives (though I'm sure some of the long time sleepers are a bit more adept).
Thanks again, Peach, for the loaner. Can't wait to dig in!
My pleasure, Ohio. Take your time. I know that life gets busy :-)

Thank you!
Another good litmus to ferret out those wolves, is if you can hear their words in the voice of Alan Rickman (the antagonist in "Die Hard")
Their seething hatred tries to paint conservatism as a curse instead of a promise.
And look who wrote the forward!
Go, Jim!!!
Their seething hatred tries to paint conservatism as a curse instead of a promise.
Wow! Now THAT's a quotable quote, doodlelady!
You are right on the money. These folks are deliberately trying to make conservatism look undesirable. They do know what they're doing, don't they? They're not only trying to divide and conquer, they're trying to drive potential conservatives away.
Diabolical. And I mean that quite literally.
why are you so abusive of conservatives here at FR. Do they not bleed? You aren't here to hunt down faux conservatives, imo , or convert others to the cause.
Heck, looking at who you support here in California easily makes me comfortable in aaying you don't walk the walk too well either and that's by your own standards.
You really do fail to see how your swipes at conservatives in general if they don't march lockstep is divisive, not uniting. You seek to purge when you are as guilty of backing some that smell to high heaven as well and the just toos mud back when you are called out as the same.
Your little harangues here do little to serve the ultimate conservative agenda as you back the New Majoritites and their agenda which has little to do with conservatism at its core. But like I've said before, Just Win, Baby! Don't sweat the details.
You are a breath of fresh air here compared to some.
Thanks!
Bzzt. Wrong answer. You left out the word "some" before "Republicans". Others don't because their own convictions on some issues are not conservative. For example: McCain and Bush on illegal immigrants, Arnold Schwarzenegger on the 2nd A., and Lincoln Chafee on practically everything.
At that point, only kicking and screaming from the conservative base can hold their own predilections in check (viz. Harriet Meirs).
By claiming to represent all conservatives.
They do know what they're doing, don't they? They're not only trying to divide and conquer, they're trying to drive potential conservatives away.
And it usually works.
Diabolical. And I mean that quite literally.
Yes!
"Don't vote and you're responsible for Democrats."
"True conservatives don't badmouth other conservatives [as if any of them are conservative]"
You'll know the Three-Monkey Pubbies are really desperate when they roll out the old: "This is the most important election of our lifetime."
Exactly,
Here is "Exhibit A" who eventually got banned.
