Weve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Dont forget to vote! Wink, wink. Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such friendly reminders are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you havent voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)
But there seems to be a new Republicans vote on Wednesday taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.
[snip]
But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to spread the word (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.
The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have had it with Republicans.

Here is another example of how the Dem will benefit from the entry of a 3rd party "conservative" candidate.
A Pennsylvania Spoiler Joins Race for Governor
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1614250/posts
"the Democratic incumbent, Edward G. Rendell, once considered a shoo-in for re-election, has been polling neck and neck with his Republican challenger,"
Then suddenly:
"The latest arrival in the race is Russ Diamond, a businessman who last July founded PACleanSweep, a political action committee born of voter outrage after legislators approved a controversial raise for themselves.
"Pennsylvania is a ship that is off course, and the way to get it back on course is from the captain's chair," Mr. Diamond said in making his candidacy public during an interview here Tuesday. "That means it's time for us to take the governor's office."
Mr. Diamond's run will most likely increase attention on what he describes as a lack of transparency and a prevalence of special interests in Harrisburg, the state capital. "

It sounds like the Dems engineered this, after all, it worked for Clinton, with Perot in the race, so why shouldn't it work here? Some conservatives are so gullible, so they take advantage of it.
Hi, doodlelady.
Nice illustration of the concepts.
I think we are up way past our bedtime.
Good night. :)
NO being Republican and Conservative are not synonymous. Republican's more often don't govern conservatively because they fear they won't be re-elected.
People were (gasp!) debating on a debating forum, no tricks or "illusions" to it.
And actually I find such "focused" posters quite boring and tedious. They leave little room for discussion or dissent.
NO, YOUR KIDDING??? We hadn't a clue 'til after YOU edumacated us. We didn't learn that lesson in the Bush/Clinton/Perot race.
BTW, I'll be working in the Swann campaign to defeat Rendell, so I am rather concerned about that candidate.
And yet folks in their ever failing wisdom see fit to post condescending and insulting comments, even when the disagreement is comparatively small, making false assumptions based on that minor difference about one's other beliefs, spawning lectures and lessons regarding points one has long understood. They can't seem to grasp that people with differing viewpoints, even slightly different viewpoints can be just as intelligent, rational and knowledgeable. An immature attitude to be sure, but also quite comical.
OH, I meant to mention, I have NEVER voted THIRD Party.
Too late. I know this conservative is not going to be sending any $$$ to the GOP so they can import people to take my job.
Hi, Polly. It was a great vacation; one of the nicest we've ever had because we were with our 2 nieces and laughed harder and longer than we have in years. They crack us up; they aren't old enough to think we're old stogies yet :-)
Thanks for the full posting, FRiend! I/others appreciate it! :-)
***I wish Jim Rob would put a logo before each name based on the comments the poster has made.***
<<<Excellent idea! I'd pay more than $5 each month for THAT!<<<
Maybe if a group of us suggested it, Jim might do it. I know he wants discussions on FR, and he's right about that. But, even on the liberal TV shows, the participants are identified by their background.

Then there are those of us who are hard core conservatives who have really lost patience with GWB for turning Democrat on us.
Both the FairOpinion account and the doodlelady account constantly receive challenges from conservatives because both accounts tend toward partisan loyalty on a ideological forum.
As I've said repeatedly, ladies and gents, this ain't FreeRepublican. There is a place for loyal partisans on this forum, but just don't expect the welcome wagon.
Why would disinformation be necessary? The GOP folks' own actions and statements are enough to demoralize me.
C'mon, let's be intellectually honest...he's hardly a Democrat. Be fair.
Democrats are "hardly" democrats...more like socialists/marxists.
