Bush and his administration are interpreting the drop in his poll numbers to the war in Iraq.
Since Bush and a lot of his current advisors are apaprently not conservatives, that makes sense - to them.
Bush HAS popular support over an unpopular war because most Americans realize we have no choice here.
Bush's popularity has eroded in direct proportion to his support for "guest workers", failure to enforce border and immigration laws, and to a lesser extent, spiriling gasoline prices.
Bush may not be able to do anything about the price of gasoline, but he CAN recover his popularity with Americans by:
Firing Alberto Gonzales and replacing him with a conservative Attorney General who will enforce our border and immigration laws, forgetting about his "guest worker program" and the businesses who want it, and putting up an effective barrier along our southern border.
But he won't because he's basically myopic and a very stubborn man

Bush doesn't care. That's obvious. He's in his last term and he is going to do what he wants - even if it pisses off his conservative base and ushers in Demoncrats in place of Republicans in the next election.

Are war-time presidents ever popular? Especially with a 24/7 barrage of negative media directed at them? Besides, the presidency is not a popolarity contest. History will be very kind to GWB.

I agree with one thing, big speeches and staff changes ain't gonna get er done. How about actually doing something on the border issue. But, since we are about 20 years too late on that issue, there is probably little he can do.

NPR ran with this story this morning, too. And it was 'Mr. Bush,' not President Bush. They were thrilled.

"For President Bush, low poll numbers have not just been a dip or temporary rough patch but appear now to be a sustained pattern that is different than his predecessors of both parties who went through their own tough times." She continued: "His . . presidency appears to have a chronic case of the below-40 percent blues." Psst Kelly -- why not include all of congress in your doom and gloom assessment as I understand they poll just as low.

You want bad poll numbers, put illegals in Death Valley concentration camps like some have suggested. I think we need to pick our battles. Right now the MSM has Americans so fed up over war that Iran will be able to blow us off the face of the earth before we send in any troops.

Reagan never hit 34% ever!!!...he was at 43% in late 1982 when unemployment hit 10.9% and again in the fall of 1986 he was at about 45-46% before recovering into the mid 50s by summer 1987. He hit over 60% by Jan 1989.
Clinton was not at 41% during impeachment. He was at 35% in 1994 but during impeachment he was at about 60%
these guys are morons.
