An interesting take on illegal immigration and its possibilities. I'm on record as opposing immigration by stealth, but, to me, the most important thing is that English be spoken in the public square by all current and prospective citizens of the United States.

And, BTW, Carlos Mencia is one funny dude...

"So, I asked, should we allow an unregulated flood of immigrants to drive American wages down to Third World levels?

“We do regulate the flow,” laughed The Darwinian. “We just do it by raising or lowering the amount of enforcement at the border. The cream of the immigrants floats to the top of this tide, so we keep the barrier high enough that it’s mostly the cream that gets in. Do you think it’s an accident that President Bill Clinton’s administration virtually ordered the Border Patrol to ease its enforcement so he could register a million newly-legalized – and in 10,000 cases felonious – voters for the 1996 election? Or that even the toughest proposed immigration law before Congress right now would build only 698 miles of fence on a 2,000 mile border?

“It’s obvious that powerful interest groups, left and right, want this flow of illegal immigrants. Businesses want more labor competition to hold down wages. Democratic leaders expect that these illegals will disproportionately become Democrat voters and restore power to the Left. The Roman Catholic Bishops see these immigrants as increasing the power of the Catholic Church. Would Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony really be so encouraging to illegals if America were a predominately Catholic country being flooded with illegal Protestant immigrants? I don’t think so.”

I said all along the mexican illegals are imported by and for and will remain:
Catholic, Liberals, and will bring in socialism.

The Conservative, Evangelical, movement has just been sidetracked!

IF you all are wondering why, suddenly, our (R) Senators have appeared to lost their collective minds and should have passed HR4437, and why suddenly the undocumented worker is unionizing (a liberal idea) it is because there is an OBVIOUS battle in House and Senate, between good and evil!!

What is that battle? Plain and simple, Conservativism and liberalism, commonly referred to as RINO's, Republican, Liberal.

This might explain what is happening and why:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_conservatism
Edmund Burke know who he is?

Are all Republicans conservative? Is being a Republican Conservative a state of mind, a philosophy?

We FReepers have stated again and again that we will never accept or even allow liberals, socialists to take over this country, that our politicians who represent the Republican party had better stick to Republican values, conservative ideals. Than suddenly we are hit with the illegal undocumented worker MOVEMENT!

And suddenly, except for a few Republicans they are passing or desiring to pass legislation that is in agreement with everything we are against, LIBERAL SOCIALISM.

I don't know about you but personally it shocked me! I felt we were all betrayed.

The illegals are not only getting welfare, medicaid and all the freebies we have to offer we taxpayers are footing the bill. They are organizing and the ones who pick fruit have a UNION!! Unions=liberal socialist movement.

Unless you all are prepared to accept a life of liberal socialist movement and have to set aside every ideal you have been taught and believe in than you must find the true conservative republicans and tell them to not allow the takeover of the liberal socialists. Pass HR4437 is the ONLY saving grace for us our beliefs and life as we know it!

It is interesting and may actually have some merit, but the one point he has missed is these "immigrants" also are rebellious and they ignore the law.

This nation does not need anymore bright, rebellious, persistent criminal, genes,

The ironic thing is this guy is basically saying that Western technology and civilization is a dead end. Otherwise we wouldn't need to bring in new "genes".

“Of course, but only in the short run,” The Darwinian replied. “Most come with a strong work ethic, devout faith, and stronger family values than most liberal Americans.

So now "devout faith" is a Darwinian advantage? Gee, I thought that was an indicator of flaccid, weakminded gullibility.

As an aside, it's funny how the Catholic church is in favor of breaking the law to justify the influx of millions of Catholics. I guess old fashioned evangelism is out of style- they can just import parishioners now.

There, now I've got the atheists AND the Catholics mad at me. haha

Actually, this is an interesting article. A bit long, but the author understands more about economics and evolution than a lot of people around here (note the connection he makes between Darwin and free-markets). Think I should ping the list? The only problem is that this thread combines two of FR's "third rail" issues.

I'm pretty sure that "genes" was a mis-print of "jeans".

That's what I liked about it. I didn't ping you because I don't ping my political posts.

Makes more sense than anything else I've read about illegal immigration, so far.

The Roman and Greek societies were destroyed from within by, people who migrated there to be closer to the wealth and prosperity these societies had created. Obviously, the powers that be, have been listening to 'The Darwanian', hoping for his 'Orwellian Utopia' to come to pass. I personally, have serious doubts that this system will work as planned.

The problem with many of the illegals, particularly Mexican, is that most are Indians from Southern Mexico. Their culture is very collectivist. There is little or not tradition of private property and individualism. This culture could change our American individualism and of course, turn it more Democratic (as in the Party).

The "The Conservative, Evangelical, movement" is being killed by demographics. It has long ago dies in Europe. It has already died in South Africa. Next is the US.

I see it as Fox keeping the best and the brightest and exporting the rest...so he gets that better Darwinian deal in my opinion.

“We’re almost literally sucking Mexico’s brains out, leaving mostly the dregs”

More likely we are achieving the exact opposite, taking the least educated and least skilled. While it is hard not to admire the guts and determination of illegal border crossers, in an information-age economy it is mental prowess not physical strength that determines a nation's fitness.

“'Free market competition' ...”

Allowing the labor market to be flooded with unskilled labor is a protectionist measure; it benefits certain industries and groups at the expense of others. In effect it alters free-market conditions that would exist within our borders (assuming you believe in borders).

This columnist was first to identify the paradox that today’s liberals demand that Darwinian evolution be taught in our public school classrooms but insist that real Darwinian competition – dodge ball, score keeping, the very idea of winners and losers – be banished from the playgrounds of those same schools.

Interesting read.
