Citizen Strike
News By Us ^ | 11 Apr 06 | Conceived by: Doug Edelman based on an article by Sher Zieve with some input by L.B "Neal" Neal

May 5 and June 30 have been selected as the days for 1 day "strikes", where American Citizens will transact no commerce:

Remain home from work, using vacation, leave, sick time or whatever is available to you.

Take no public transportation. Transact no business.

Make no purchases. Consider turning off your TV, radio and computers.

For one day, make no contribution to the economy of the nation.

For one day focus on the home, family, books etc.

Interesting... but I think most of us will have things to do on that day.

Especially on Cinco de Mayo, a big day for watering holes everywhere. And it's on Friday this year!

Good luck with that strike, citizens, I'm sure you'll bring America to her knees.

May 5 and June 30. Are you sure one of those isn't a day the opposition plans on using? It it was, and every citizen protested on either of those days, it would look like the illegals shut down the economy, not the citizens. That's the way the press would print all over the world.

I say we all go out with OUR flags and signs on may 5th. Watch them complain about our, "Hijacking their herritage," or something ridiculous.

Let them show their hypocracy to the world: It's okay for them, but not for us.

It's at least a start at some kind of protest.

May 5, (Cinco De Mayo) is a terrible day to execute such an effort. It's a major holiday for illegal immigrants.

I disagree. It's a perfect day.
It's also a holiday for LEGAL Mexican immigrants and American-born Hispanics who are NOT on the illegal's side. Who KNOW what the illegal's agenda is and KNOW the greatness of being an American.

Believe it or not, we still outnumber them.

Too bad I have no desire to come out of retirement. I'd go out to apply for one of those jobs these silly people want to play hooky from.

The point was to make a stand not going to business, not buying and perhaps not even turning on the tube.

Look, the illegals are going to be doing this. Do you think the media is going to play this off as citizens answering back or the illegals flexing their muscles?

Pick another day. That's just my take, but that's how I see it.

Now wouldn't that just chap their collective butts. A crowd of honkys (i had to use the word because of their sign) waving the American flag in their faces on their day. Usurping cinco de mayo. They can dish it out, but I bet they can't take it.

This idea is about as dopey as boycotting Exxon for a day. If we really want to piss off the Mexicans, I'd recommend that on Cinquo de Mayo Day, we burn Mexican flags.

These asinine boycotts do nothing - an utter waste of effort. They are concocted to make people feel like they are really doing something without them actually having to make an effort and get involved.

I too don't personally buy products I know are from mexico. However, since I work at a Dodge dealership as a mechanic, the number of our parts stamped, "assembled in Mexico" is staggering.

In fact, the new 6.1L Hemi used in the new SRT 8s and Magnum R/Ts comes from Mexico.

That is exactly what I plan for stinky de mayo day. I plan to burn mexican flags on a regular basis, and on the 5th of May, I'll burn several of their flags.
