Patient advocacy groups say with more frequency in Tennessee somebody dies because they could not see a doctor, or get the medicine they need.
In large part they say it's because the TennCare program is being cut.
So Thursday night people throughout Tennessee met to share their stories and gain strength in numbers in hopes of changing the minds of politicians who made the cuts.

Two different versions of socialism with pretty much the same destination likely. How many lives will be lost before people learn?
RWR8189's thread is here: Health Care for Everyone? (Mitt Romney Op-Ed)
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
Gee, there is a non-bias source. No one actually studied it, they just feel that way.
Some idiot liberal in TN this second: "Quick, we need more Socialism to fix the problem..."
Funny, I read the whole story and they could not even come up with one ancedotal case where someone died. They talked about one guy with back pain and another with mental illness. Then there was one lady with an unnamed illness asking what she is suppose to do about her medicine....perhaps if it is that important, maybe she could pay for the medicine herself. Just a dumb thought.
"It's going to cost the state money because they're going to be dealing with the mental health population in jail. And I think it's going to result in overcrowded hospitals," Shorter said.
Finally all they could say about the third victim was that she had 'many serious illnesses'.
Part of the problem with TennCare is that they have a GOLD plan...they pay for everything and anything with no restrictions, when all the State can afford is the soda pop plan where there are restrictions on the number of meds and trips to the doctor you can make. People abuse such a system with needless trips to the doctor for every little thing that most people could treat with over the counter remedies. We also pay for the transportation to and from the doctor, even by cab.
Paying for Tenn Care wrecked the state. Allowing the program to continue would bring the end of Tennessee producers. A few would destroy the many.
It's amazing that we Tennesseans were able to survive as a state for two centuries without TennCare but now any talk of trimming this massive Marxist program (let along driving a stake through its heart) is met with end-of-the-earth pronouncements. Unfortunately, even the Republicans are too timid to forcefully demand its repeal.
There is almost no self-reliance left in the American people. The government must provide everything. When do I get government-paid trips to Vegas to relieve my stress and anxiety?
"Unfortunately, even the Republicans are too timid to forcefully demand its repeal."
I live here, and the Republicans have tried to address it. Of course, you can imagine the normal diatribes against them (and any Dems who tried to limit it as well) as mean-spirited, etc. Tenncare is now a beast with too many people relying on/taking advantage of it. You cannot get it out of there without a complete revamping of the state's politics; that'll happen the day monkeys fly out of my butt...
Want government run healthcare?
Ever been to the DMV?
Did you like it?
