Stop Eminent Domain: Make an example of Starwood by hitting them in the purse

YOU can help stop eminent domain abuse. Scare off the brand-name companies that are reaping the rewards of stolen land. Just go to the below link and pledge to not stay at any Starwood Hotel (W, Sheraton, Four-Points, Westin, St. Regis, Luxury collection, Le Meridien) until they back out of the development at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine that involves stealing buildings using eminent domain...

This is an easy way to fight eminent domain abuse. We'll start with Starwood and if successful move on (Mercedes you're next if you don't tell your dealer in Arcadia California to keep its hands off of Rod's Grill!)

PASS IT ON

Interesting weblink.

Seems like Hollywood and Vine would be a prime location for market forces to operate. I assume there are already profitable businesses at this location or else another company would just buy the property from the current owner and redevelop it. Is the city acting to compel turnover of the property through imminent domain proceedings?

More details or a news story link please.

Substituting one business for another business is NOT a misuse of eminent domain.

To the contrary, the taking of private property by the government to benefit another private business (selected by the government) is PRECISELY the worst aspect of eminent domain, and is closer to fascism than free enterprise. We are dealing with that locally, and a friend of mine has hundreds of thousands invested in vacant prime riverfront property, land on which he pays property taxes but for which his plans have been turned down by city hall because they have told him they have their own developer picked out. We are gearing up to fight local dictatorship. (This ties in very closely to the Mollohan scandal here in WV).
