DURHAM, N.C. Apr 10, 2006 (AP)— DNA testing failed to connect any members of the Duke University lacrosse team to the alleged rape of a stripper, attorneys for the athletes said Monday.

Citing DNA test results delivered by the state crime lab to police and prosecutors a few hours earlier, the attorneys said the test results prove their clients did not sexually assault and beat a stripper hired to perform at a March 13 team party.

IIRC some reporter hired a stripper to have sex with him and then claim he raped her. The media crucified him for about a week and a half (Rush supported him though). Her story fell apart and it fell off the edge of the earth.

A thought ~ his first reaction might have been based on the presumption that the lacrosse players would have had sex with the stripper, just like he did (or would).

Exactly. I wonder what he will say tommorrow at the forum. He has a very weak case now, but he is running for election and his constituency is the townspeople of Durham, not Duke students. I fear that it not quite over for the players or Duke just yet.

No, actually it is the exact opposite of the Kobe Bryant scandal. In that case the girl was actually raped, but the legal system and the media immediately put up the "nuts and sluts" defense e.g. "why was she even in his room",etc. Eventually, the accuser gave up and took a settlement.

There is zero proof that the accuser of Kobe Bryant was raped. One thing there is proof of, however, is that the DNA of two other men was found in here at the same time as Kobe's. She had sex with two other men within 48 hours of her encounter with Bryant.

It is just as likely that sex between Kobe Bryant and Kate Faber was consensual.

I think the encounter was initially consenual. But if and when she says no and the male does not stop, it goes from being consenual sex to rape. I think this is what happened in Bryant's case

We're missing something on the DNA evidence. Without DNA corroboration there are no 3 assailants. Now all 47/46 are suspects. 46 to 1 he/she said. No DNA. Photos of prior injuries. No Case. How could Doofus prove NO REASONABLE DOUBT?

Why is Lacrosse even mentioned? Is the Sport on trial?

There are real peoples lives hanging in the balance of this investigation and idiots seem to think Lacrosse (a freaking game) is evidence?

Attitude is what it is and you don't need a sport to sport one, if these kids all had gold chains, grills and decked out SUV's they'd be "PLAYER'S" and the incident would be an average Saturday night in Detroit, not worth reporting, let alone mentioning.
