Ohio Gov. May Face State Ethics Charges (Please Resign)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The state agency that regulates lawyer behavior recommended Monday that Gov. Bob Taft be disciplined for failing to report golf outings and other gifts while in office.
Taft pleaded no contest in August to the ethics violations and was fined $4,000. He was the first Ohio governor to be charged with a crime while in office.
The agency said Taft also violated Ohio's code of professional conduct for lawyers, which states that a lawyer shall not "engage in any other conduct that adversely reflects on the lawyer's fitness to practice law."
The recommendation ultimately goes to the state Supreme Court to determine the penalty. Taft could face penalties that range from a reprimand to loss of his license to practice law.

Looks like this will be one busy agency.

I would have thought the name "Taft" was pretty well known, over the last century in American politics. I guess not.

Yes, but a good number of freepers immediately assume that when no party affiliation is given in a MSM article/news story, that the wrong doer must be a democrat, and the lack of noting party affiliation is just another MSM coverup.
The corollary to that is that rarely, if ever, is the wrong doer actually a Republican, they are all RINOs. At least according to the common wisdom.

Then maybe they should watch that quick, knee-jerk assumption, and try to remember their history, instead. :)

He needs to go. NOW. Before he does any more damage, and not just to Ohio but to the entire country.

No mention of party affiliation? Any corrupt government offcial mentioned in MSM publications may safely be presumed to be Republican. Democrat corruption is accepted by most to be the norm, hence not newsworthy.

This seems weird to me. I've met members of the Taft family and they seem like very ethical people who also don't have any need to take bribes. I know that Gov. Taft's mother was very ill. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Taft has long been a proud name in Republican politics. For whatever reasons, it's a shame to see it change.

Power breeds arrogance. It's only a natural course of action for some of these guys.

Or in more than a few cases, they should actually read the entire linked story (not an issue in this case), but just the other day I corrected a freeper who used the defense that he had not read the story (only the excerpted part), because there was no link at the bottom of the excerpt. The link was at the beginning.

The corollary to that is that rarely, if ever, is the wrong doer actually a Republican, they are all RINOs. It's true that the Republican in this article is an exception. And it is also true that Gov. Taft has been criticized heavily here for tax-and-spend proclivities.

Taft USED to be a great name in Ohio politics as well as thew nation. This one however has been a total disgrace. His stances on legislation and his scandels make me ashamed to say I voted for the ba$tard. He is the guy for which the acronym R.I.N.O. was invented. He should resign.
