Mark Warner pays a visit to America's heartland: GOP area of MO and WI

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Former Virginia Gov. Mark R. Warner showed off his presidential credentials in the Show Me State on Friday. Warner told an overflow crowd of 700 Missouri Democrats that the Democratic Party should stand for opportunity rather than an extreme ideology.

"I think we've got to change the whole debate in this country from liberal versus conservative, left versus right, to the future versus the past," he said at the Jackson Day dinner.

He brought his message of "the sensible center" to one of the most conservative areas of Missouri, a bellwether state that has correctly chosen the winning presidential candidate in every election but one since 1900. The state voted for Democrat Adlai Stevenson in the 1956 election won by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Southwest Missouri is heavily Republican, prompting local Democratic officials to invite Warner, seen as a moderate alternative to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, in the presidential nominating contest in 2008. Warner has not announced his intentions but has given every sign he plans to run.

He spent much of last week boning up on foreign policy at the Harvard School of Government.

If he helps keep the Hildebeast from getting the keys to the Oval Office, then he will have done a great service for his country.

We're rooting for a conservative, of course, but if a Dem wins, I'd certainly rather it be Mark Warner than the Hildebeast.

"It's important the heartland see the real Mark Warner"

In that case, didn't Corin post the wrong end?

That's it! The rat wins back the Whitehouse. The ratmedia has told us that mark warner is visiting Red States. That means he will be the next president. Oh woe is us.

I've actually seen some describe Dork Warner as attractive in the physical sense. Other than the bulge of his... checkbook, I can't imagine who really thinks that.
