Thats simply the MSM spin. Oil from Venezuela is rather expensive to produce, as it is not simply pumping crude from the ground but refining it from bitumen. Similar to what is in AB, Canada. Not a cheap process at all.

This is why recently Chavez was out saying that he is going to try and ensure that the global price for oil is greater than $50/barrel.
