Yes, A Really Lousy Week (for Creationism - Dr Dino Going Down)
Scientific American ^ | 8 April 2006

Posted on 04/08/2006 7:15:09 PM PDT by balrog666

Following up on my previous post about how creationists suffered a few setbacks, this news has also come to my attention: the creationist theme park Dinosaur Adventure Land, operated by the prominent evolution denier Dr. Dino (Kent Hovind) and the Creation Science Evangelism ministry, has just been shuttered by the authorities. All of this arises from the church's building without a permit back in 2002. (Here's the ministry's own account of the situation.)

Links are at source.

I agree, I had a subscription to SA for over 20 years but I let it lapse in 2001. The politics of the new boy-editor are so revolting I couldn't open the thing anymore. I look at the on-line version occasionally but it is more of the same.

Sad, a once great magazine with a rich and important history has been turned into a blatantly political rag.

"I guess you are not familiar with public education. "*less fit*" are treated as permanent stage of less fit, that class of people that will always be in need of a government program."

That's not survival of the fittest. If it were, the *less fit* would get NO government assistance. You have it completely backwards.

"Some of the most supposed fittest are the main reapers of the welfare state. Look at how Congress earmarks dollars to donors that fund their elections"

Hate to tell you, but political influence-peddling existed long before anybody ever heard of Darwin. Nor is this an example of *survival of the fittest*.

"Education teaches the method of system think."

Do you mean statism? That has nothing to do with evolution.

"Evolution does NOT teach a child their uniqueness their individuality much less a Heavenly given right to that individuality, evolution teaches the child they are members of animals at large."

Evolution, and biology in general, says that EVERYBODY is unique and an individual. It also says that we have capabilities that no other animal has. Saying we evolved from other life doesn't mean that we are not different from that life. It's not where you come from but where you are that counts. Being descended from other animals does not make us any less human.

"System think response."

No, it was an accurate reply. You STILL have not provided examples of where the education system is run under the guideline of *survival of the fittest*. Instead, you have given examples from politics and the welfare state that don't relate to the education system.

I've been involved in several church building/expansion programs in my life. I've never heard it even suggested that churches do not have to comply with building codes and/or permits. I'm not an evolutionist, however, I'll have to agree with you on this one. It is not unreasonable at all to expect that he comply with the law.
It would be an altogether different situation if they refused to give him a permit BECAUSE of what he was building, then I could see his "religious persecution" argument. Biblically, we are instructed to obey the laws of the land as long as they don't conflict with Gods law. No conflicts here.

Cordially,
GE

" You ignored his point entirely - it wasn't about the "dude"."

Yes it was. It's not the posters that discredited him, it was the dude himself that did that.

"It's also interesting, however, that if this "dude" was a libertarian businessman who had the IRS after him, many of those on this tread would likely be defending him."

Libertarianism has nothing to do with outright tax evasion and ignoring building permit laws on major construction intended for public use in a populated area.

Almost as much fun as reading a Jack Chick comic.

NoteToSelf: Re - CGM's party.
You've got other plans. Like bug-bombing the house.

God says he doesn't lie. How can one that swears he never lies send strong delusions to another? Is that possible logically?

When you meet someone who claims never to lie, it's time to check you wallet.

re: Actually, a part of brain science is about telling people what makes them happy.)))

And years and years of evofreaks hanging around FR, posting the same old spam every day, the same old catchphrases, the same list o' links, the same pictures of skulls and bones, indicates that evo brains run on obsessive feedback loops. OCD--Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Only instead (in addition to?) the frantic washing of hands, the counting of pencils in the pencil cups--this endless exhibit is getting pitiful, like that austistic Dustin Hoffman on RainMan. Judge Wapner, Judge Wapner, get back to biology class! You demonstrate no logical grasp of science!

Who are ya'll fooling? What science can you be doing IRL when you're always here, and never saying anything new? What lives can you have? Every day, hours and hours of the same old crap, back and forth to each other like thoroughly neurotic cranks. How I wish FR would sideline all these crevo threads out of "Latest Posts" onto a forum called "Same Old Stuff."

An allusion to "holocaust denier"? Maybe I am reading too much into your choice of words, but perhaps they say a little more then you wanted

That is seriously uncalled for. You have issues

Think of all the practicing you miss by this obsession. I've heard you whine on other threads that you wish you had more time for playing.

Hey, my replies are not out of the Grand Master's Can o' Evo Spam. A symptom of your OCL is in the inability to formulate an original sentence.

"Think of all the practicing you miss by this obsession."

Think of all the time I lose reading your vacuous posts.

" I've heard you whine on other threads that you wish you had more time for playing."

I wasn't whining. That's your job.

Now, go find a nice astronaut to bother. :)

No doubt. That IS what you do.

"There are better instruments to pick, pick, pick."

Such wit. Not.
