Growing Anger Among blacks as Latinos 'take over'
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 4/7/06

NEWARK, N.J. -- The men both stood in a busy hardware store parking lot, but their lives were far apart.

On one end, Oscar Bautista of El Salvador said he had been waiting more than three hours for a job. Across the lot, Art Jackson loaded potting soil into his Dodge Durango. He complained that immigrants are making it harder for Americans to keep good jobs, especially blacks.

''You need to take care of home first,'' said Jackson, an African-American phone salesman from northern New Jersey.

Blacks and Latinos are often united on social and political issues. But they often differ when it comes to immigration.

Newcomers make black progress harder, said Wesley Crawford, who works at Source of Knowledge, a bookstore in Newark. ''It's a misconception that they're taking jobs we don't want. If you give people a good job, they will work.''

While Hispanic immigrants have protested a proposed crackdown on illegal immigration, the nation's most prominent black leaders have all been to New Orleans to try to stop the upcoming local election. Shortly after the storm, Jesse Jackson and others complained that Latino workers seemed to have more access than blacks to rebuilding jobs.

Bruce S. Gordon, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said that African-American and Latino bonds are strong and that his ''spirit was there'' at the immigration marches.

Most of the immigration protests have focused on a bill passed by the U.S. House that would make illegal immigration a felony, and all but one black voting member of Congress, Rep. Harold Ford Jr. of Tennessee, was against it, according to the Congressional Black Caucus.

Still, many blacks feel threatened, said Earl Ofari Hutchinson, a black writer in Los Angeles.

''The civil rights leaders say we're all united, but the average person on the street is taking great offense at this group coming in and essentially taking over,'' he said.

Uh-huh Jesse. The latinos were willing to work, especially at the generous disaster rates provided by Fema sub-contractors. The blacks ... where were they Jesse? Where were they?

not like the willy-nilly illegal immigration any more than you or I do. I don't know if it's the truth, but that's what I hear.

I've seen/read this is exactly true.

I wouldn't assume that many Latinos are one issue voters.

Democrats show up in black churches a month before elections, demagogue race, then leave shortly after elections are over, not to be seen until the next election.

When you play racist politics, and become first class citizens under the law, you run the risk of becoming a victim of racism. What you accept for others, is ultimately what you accept for yourself.

If the Republicans were doing the right thing on Immigration, a lot of blacks would consider a political switch. But that's a big If.

And what is the "right thing" on immigration? A quick/dirty attempt to placate their base? Or a long-term, coordinated effort to create a situation where an almost exclusively Democratic constituency and a heavily Dem-leaning constituency politically turn on each other ... putting the Dems in a rock vs. hard spot situation that helps ensure conservative control of the federal government for the next generation?

As much as I believe in and support the whole "illegal means illegal ... what part of that didn't you understand?" argument, I do think that there is something much larger and more important at work in what Bush is doing on immigration right now.

Here's an idea for NBC: Hire a few Latinos to wander around a concert of rap "artists" and videotape the reaction of the mo- er, audience. Wouldn't that be intriguing?

My sister-in-law is from Mexico (legally) and became a citizen a few years back.  Her family works hard and are very productive members of society.  She would agree with you.  Her family went through a LOT to assimilate to our culture and they are not happy about illegals coming in and demanding things.

The coming unrest between blacks and Latinos will be interesting to watch. They won't be able to blame whitey this time. Which side will all the race pimps come down on? Let the show begin.

Jackson and others complained,"Latino workers seem to have more access than blacks to rebuilding jobs."This should be a wake up call Jessie, illegals are willing to work dirt cheap. This affects ALL Americans regardless of race.

Don't matter, it's the perception. The DNC is firewalled on brining more in, and the RNC is too stupid to see the opportunity they have.

The smart thing for Blacks to do and I'm not sure they will would be to defect from the Democratic party which is definitely trying to screw them. But the Dems will get ahold of Jackson or Sharpton, give them some money and those two will say vote Dem or you have nothing to fear from illegals. The sad thing is that plenty of Blacks will believe them. This is a piss poor time to support the dem party which through their push of the McCainkennedy bill and others has shown their treachery.

I've been wondering when I'd start seeing something like this. Will this be the issue that finally motivates the black American majority to leave the Democrat Party?

And Blacks are surprised? The RATS are casting them out of the "Big House" on the plantation for a group that breeds.

Multiculturalism infuses Hispanics and Blacks with race pride and that is another term for racism. The Left's race doctrine targets whitey as the enemy (Jews as well) and the Democrats offer them official and structured preferences over the inferior race (whites). Hate motivates and Democrats have had the advantage of this new and improved structure of racism for decades.

What the Left did not count on is that racists hate everyone who is not like them. The Black and Brown racists are going to hate Blacks and Browns being in one another's territory and are going to seek race-based advantage over one another. Racial supremacy demands structured advantage and dominance for the skin tribe.

Racism is not easy to herd and control - it is hate and will ruin everything it touches. The Islamic Arab rulers are finding this out about Islam's hate game. Hate destroys and kills and the stokers can not direct it where they want it to go. It ends of devouring it's creator.

Yep.  Latinos are the "Minority-du jour" and the Jesse Jackson crowd is not going to like it.
