majority don't trust the government to enforce the laws that are already on the books
I think it fair to say that this mistrust is not without good reason. :)

...put this thing back before the Judiciary Committee and get a better bill...The only way they will get anything better from the Judiciary Committee will be when Specter leaves.

Typical government-in-action: It takes them 30 minutes to finish a 10-minute vote.

Best thing to do in the meanwhile is be aware of those who'd voted "yea" on the compromise bill, note if their seats are up for grabs this fall, and work like heck to get them ousted by more conservative voices - if any such may be found.

I called Norm Coleman's office and told them to reject this ridiculous "compromise."
Any update on how cloture vote is going on original Frist border security bill? That vote is important.

A "cloture" vote is not CRITICAL.
To: wardaddy
Drudge saying it's dead Jim. As your hero tom tancredo wants it. Gotta keep those PAC bucks flowing into his and bay buchanan's PAC.
tancredo could have reached out to good conservatives Kyl/Cornyn and get a bill through, and he didn't, but I guess those PAC donations are more important to tom tancredo, than an actual bill.

( anyone who believes hillary would do something to stop illegal immigration is believing gibberish)
To: clawrence3
Uh, sometimes a cloture vote is extremely critical. For example, Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The House won't "compromise" (give in), and there won't be a final bill They will to a point .. but they won't come close to agreeing to what is going in the Senate

NOW it is critical to contact the LOCAL OFFICE of your senator.
can be found at

Now that they have left the belway, give them a dose of reality!

The House won't "compromise" (give in), and there won't be a final bill.
Most of them can't afford to. They've already gotten plenty of response. Those wanting to be re-elected won't put up with this messy [amnesty by another name] Senate bill.

Actually the purpose of the House is too keep the senate in check.
If you don't believe me look it up.
The senate was established first, the house later as a way to counter the power of the senate and keep the senate from imposing it's will on the people.

A "cloture" vote is not CRITICAL
Well of course it isn't if you do not seek an up or down vote. The only reason you would say this is if you do not seek up or down votes.
