FRiends, you who are initially pinged to this thread know whom it is for -- it is for someone whose preparation for a military career has been interrupted for an indefinite amount of time, and whose recovery will take patience and hard work. We will refer to this prayer recipient as Fightin' Spirit.
Fightin' Spirit is not a screen name, but a shield to protect the family and friends as we lift them up in prayer without leaving a cybertrail. God knows who this thread is intended for; he reads hearts. So, please, no names in your posts to the public thread.
This is a prayer chain, not intended for medical discussion, but rather to affirm God's healing power, and His gifts of peace and spiritual strength to move in a new direction.
Your responses to my last FReepmail have been astounding and humbling. When I suggested that those who may want to drop off my ping list for any reason should FReepmail me, I did not receive a single drop request -- but dozens of prayer warriors wrote, making sure they would be left on!
I will update this prayer thread once every week or two. From here on out, everyone who signs onto this thread will be placed on the ping list for updates, and those who do not sign on will not continue to receive update pings.
FS is truly a wonder!!! Continued prayers for his full recovery and keeping his terrific "Fighting Spirit"
God's grace has truly visited him and has a plan for him.

Our prayers for Fightin' Spirit have availed much! He is walking and talking, taking charge of his recovery with enthusiasm, and traveling by train to his outpatient rehab sessions! Thank you, Lord!
Excellent news: because he had taken extra credits, the time he has lost in these last two months of senior year will not - repeat, not - prevent him from graduating with his class! He will not be able to receive his ROTC commission nor proceed with his plans to enter the Armed Services as a pilot, but he will be able to graduate!
During those first weeks, when Fightin' Spirit lay near death and in terrible condition, with his eyes swollen out of their sockets, brain bleeds and gashes on his face, I had recurring visions of him walking to receive his diploma, scheduled only two months and one week after his accident. I'll admit, I had a hard time accepting those visions; I would see them, then do a "double take." They were a challenge to my faith in the very prayers I was praying. God is so good, and all the time! He had plans to bring Fightin' Spirit back from the edge, for His purposes. Praise and adoration!
Fightin' Spirit plans to spend this summer recuperating, then focus on completing ROTC during the next school year, if possible. If not, then his focus will be on finding an alternate path, with God's help. Thank you, faithful FReepers, for keeping him in your prayers as he continues healing, regaining full cognitive function and regaining physical strength.

Lord, we thank You for the gift of prayer and for Your loving care of us. We especially thank You this evening for the healing miracles You have performed that Fightin' Spirit has recovered this far from the grievous wounds he suffered. We praise You, O Lord, and ask for Your continued watchful presence with Fightin' Spirit as his rehab continues. To Your Name be the glory. Amen.
