Ultimately, this Senate immigration deal appears to fail the first test: Border Security. Because as I've said, and as many others agree, without first securing our borders, not even the best intentions will result in resolution of our illegal alien crisis.
The test for effective reform is straightforward: Congress and the president cannot reform immigration if the federal government cannot control it, and the federal government cannot control immigration unless it first secures our borders and our ports.
Any legislation that fails to meet those tests will only worsen what is already a crisis.
What if Congress is underestimating the number of illegal aliens by half? A Bear Stearns study last year projects there are as many as 20 million illegal aliens living in the United States, depressing wages for U.S. citizens and draining local, state and federal budgets of much-needed funds for education, health care and social services.

Ah, doesn't this send a message that what they're doing is ok?
How about voting them out of office? Especially in the upcoming primaries.
Bump for later.
"I thought she was with Kyl and the other senators against this bill? She certainly sounded like it this morning on Fox when she adamantly supported it dying on the vine."
You would never have thought so in talking with her staffers....either locally or in DC.
Evidently she decided to get "religion" when her phones, e-mails and fax machines were getting swamped.
Too little, too late.

I never thought I'd agree with that point of view, but I understand it now.
I've been watching him lately, and he's OUTRAGED about illegal immigration.
Thanks for the phone numbers.
You're right.
Dobbs has been under attack for his anti-illegal immigration views.
Yes he has, and his ratings have increased.
Good for you.
