WASHINGTON - Putting aside party differences, Senate Republicans and Democrats coalesced Thursday around compromise legislation that holds out the hope of citizenship to an estimated 11 million immigrants living in the United States unlawfully.
"We can no longer afford to delay reform," said Republican Sens. John McCain and Edward M. Kennedy in a statement that capped weeks of struggle to find common ground. [TRANSLATION: Amnesty and a path to citizenship for 11 million illegal aliens]

UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I think it's pretty clear that the only thing the GOP is good for is blocking the Dems.
As a majority party, they suck.
Damn Frist and McCain and the Bush brothers and the whole sorry lot of sellouts.
I'm so angry I would almost as soon the the Democrats in power just to get rid of these faux-conservative traitors.
I have contributed to the Republican party financially and with my sweat, but no more.
From what 've heard, I like the way Mexico handles enforcement of those that seek to enter their country.
It's quite evident a large majority of our representatives will not exercise their responsibilities to protect the border.
So I am now proposing as part of this guest worker program we import those that craft and enforce Mexico's immigration policies; to fill the jobs in D.C. that our current American politicians will not do.
Are you kidding?
The president can't wait for this thing to get to his desk so he can sign it.
He's salivating just thinking about it.
And he'll probably fly down to Mexico to do it.
Why would he veto it? It gives most of what he wants. Guest Worker (GW) Bush.
If Teddy (hiccup) Kennedy is behind it, you know it's a turd ripe for the flushing.
...I'm sure this will teach other illegals not to come here...
He has NO intention of "eliminating our borders and never has. I don't like the guest worker program any more than you do, but if the border is sealed, we speed up and expand deportations, and hammer the employers, then I can live (barely) with some sort of temp worker program.
Here is the President's plan:

Lou Dobbs with the Minute Men at the Mexican border...
Our weak, RINO, amnesty loving president won't use his first ever veto on this legislation that he probably had his hand in.
Boycott 2006 elections unless the person up for election runs away from this and back to his principles! Don't support liberals no matter what party they belong to.
What Frist is talking about is interesting.
The democrats are refusing to allow ANY amendments to the bill to come to the floor. In other words, they will filibuster any amendment. And you can't do cloture on each amendment, it would take forever.
So Frist is saying that the people who want to present amendments will not vote for cloture because they haven't had a chance to present their amendments.
Reid says it's reasonable not to let any amendments because debating amendments would be "a filibuster by amendment". But if they had started amendments yesterday, they'd be done with them by now. The problem is the amendments would get majorities easily.
One amendment would prohibit FELON illegals from qualifying.
Now Reid is up saying something about the lecturn isn't a car. That's what he said "This is not a car". It's the Chewbacca Defense!!!!
Reid wanted to have the judiciary committee be the conference group -- to make sure the bill doesn't change.
Now he says the lecturn is not a chair.
Frist said that if cloture doesn't pass, he will present HIS bill, which is just border security, which is what we want. I'm sure the democrats will filibuster that one.
Frist says he just wanted 3 amendments tonight, one of which was a democrat amendment, and Reid blocked it. Reid was worried about 20 amendments.
Durbin's noting that they could amend the martinez bill after cloture (since cloture is on the substitute amendment.
But the republicans know that the democrats will block amendments after the cloture vote.
Now reid says he'd CONSIDER something, but he won't, and it's a trick.
I hope they don't invoke cloture tomorrow, we need a vote on Frist.
Frist is moving again for unanimuous consent for only 3 amendments, but Reid is stopping it again.
He sucks on the border isssue. Other than that, he's a GREAT president, and no stinking RINO. I said I'll pray he vetos it, not that he would. So if he does, you can thank me for taking the time to do so. ;o)

We screwed the suckers again Teddy!
