I don't think the GOP is going to let this one go. The Dems used a local prosecutor to derail Speaker Delay, now the GOP will let the DOJ take its course on McKinney. Problem for the Dems is McKinney is going to scream racism and she will demand the Dems for support. If Dem does not support her, then the issue become, are the Dems taking their black support for granted? If the Dems support her, it will turn off white voters.

Well now then she can RESIGN just like DeLay had the class to do.

Actually she was re-elected after the current occupant foolishly attempted a run for the U.S. Senate. McKinney had been defeated in the Democrat primary in 2002, when many GOP votors crossed over to vote for her opponent in the Democrat primary. Once the seat was vacated again in 2004, she coasted back in.

From the GOP's perspective, she's the gift that keeps on giving.

Yes.

Rush had him on yesterday, and he said if no one else brought the charges against her, he would.

If she does, then I think I'll go rob a bank, spend all the stolen money then apologize for it know the McKinney Precedent absolves me of any punishment!

That will only fly if you're... "any officer or employee of the United States or of any agency in any branch of the United States Government (including any member of the uniformed services) while such officer or employee is engaged in or on account of the performance of official duties, or any person assisting such an officer or employee in the performance of such duties", "a Member of Congress or a Member-of-Congress-elect, a member of the executive branch of the Government who is the head, or a person nominated to be head during the pendency of such nomination, of a department listed in section 101 of title 5 or the second ranking official in such department, the Director (or a person nominated to be Director during the pendency of such nomination) or Deputy Director of Central Intelligence, a major Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate (as defined in section 3056 of this title), or a Justice of the United States, as defined in section 451 of title 28 , or a person nominated to be a Justice of the United States, during the pendency of such nomination", or "any act performed in the lawful discharge of official duties by a Member of Congress; an employee of a Member of Congress; an officer or employee of Congress or a committee of Congress; or an officer or employee of either House of Congress or a committee of that House."

Very safe - unless another Dem challenges in the primary.

A Republican won't unseat her.

Do not jest, you can do that in Britain now and they won't prosecute you.

So, if I hit a cop, then later apologize, everything will be forgotten?

Neat!!

And then after you admit guilt, you must apologize to the person that you offended, not a group of people that was not part of the offense.

DeLay said if necessary, it would be his last act in office. He sees the issue as being very serious, and he will willingly step up to the plate, if no one else does.

No word yet from the ignorant hypocrite Danny Glover or the racist Harry Belafonte.

Disagree with the premise of the headline that she is apologizing. She's expressing regret any physical contact happened. It's as bad as "Turbin's" apology.

Cindy:

Was it wrong not to stop?
Was it wrong to hit a peace officer protecting you against harm from terrorists we all know exist?
Was it wrong to use the race card and say the incident happened because you were legislating while black?

Until these points are addressed I cannot accept that she apologized.

"There should not have been any physical contact in this incident," McKinney said in brief remarks on the House floor. "I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation and I apologize."

"Physical contact" here being when he "touched her inappropriately"? IOW, But, Ma, he started it. But she does regret its "escalation" -- does that mean her hitting him or the Capitol Police unaccountably making a fuss?

She's a fool! She's still not taking the blame for her actions. The house should kick her out!

She should be charged with being a RACIST

She should be charged with being a LIAR

She should be charged with ASSAULT
