WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States should set a May 15 deadline for Iraqis to form a unity government and then plan to withdraw its troops by year's end, Democratic Senator and former presidential candidate John Kerry said in commentary published in The New York Times.
"If Iraqis aren't willing to build a unity government in the five months since the election, they're probably not willing to build one at all. The civil war will only get worse, and we will have no choice anyway but to leave," Kerry said.
Joining a growing chorus criticizing the US-led occupation of Iraq, Kerry said it was "immoral ... to engage in the same delusion" as in Vietnam, where half of the US casualties occurred "after America's leaders knew our strategy would not work.">p>
Kerry described the current situation as "the third war in Iraq in as many years.
To get things rolling, Kerry suggested bringing all the leaders of Iraqi factions together "in a neutral setting" where, working with US allies, the Arab League and the United Nations, they "would be compelled to reach a political agreement."

Pretty good! New Orleans is quite lively these days. From what you see in the news, you'd think that the entire city got flooded and there isn't a single standing building anywhere. Bunch of crap.

Kerry's big "plan" is the same old cut and run. He can put all the lipstick he wants on that pig, but that's all there is in the dems' playbook.

John F. Kerry - the Horatio Nelson of Viet Nam delivers expert military advice.
I'd sooner listen to Beavis and Butthead.

If the Democrats aren't willing to build unity in America after their defeats in 2004, 2002, and 2000, they probably aren't interested in doing what is good for American and Americans (and their policy on illegal immigration indicates they are not!), so it is time to vote our more Democrats from Congress this November. Hear that Uncle Teddy? And, yes, I DO know who you are. What's more important, Senator, is that I also know WHAT you are.

I agree. The only problem I have is my Senator choice for 2006 is a full fledged RINO. See T. Kean Jr. New Jersey.

"The Arab League? Why, pray tell, would we want them to have any say in what goes on in Iraq?"
Doubt the Iraqis want them. Nor the UN.
The Arab league is happy to see them in disorder and not pumping more oil.

This poor excuse for a senator has not a clue as to what has been going on in Iraq. This buffoon has worse timing than algore. The focus this week is on illegal immigration, not the war. Keep it up fool.

What kind of people vote for this man. I mean really, if you voted for him for president maybe it was because you just didn't like President Bush or you don't pay attention to politics and you never vote for the guy that is president. But if this man is your senator what are you thinking. Although here I sit in the state that voted for Corzine. I just have to look around me at the place where I work and see what kind of people do things like this. The people where I work were very excited to vote for Corzine because he was going to raise the minimum wage. No one where I work makes minimum wage. But they all had themselves convinced that they would get the same raise that the minimum wage was going to be raised. This is what votes democrat. STUPID PEOPLE. I guess you just go in that booth and look at the list and say, WHoooooooooo will give me something for nothing, and pull the freaking lever.
