ANTI-WAR activists yesterday demonstrated outside the BBC headquarters in Scotland to protest at alleged "pro-government bias" in the corporation's reporting of the Iraq conflict.
About 20 Stop the War Coalition protesters stood outside the offices in Glasgow to highlight what they said was a failure to cover a national demonstration last month.
The BBC has denied ignoring the demonstration in London.
In a letter to the BBC director general, Mark Thompson, the group complained of "systematic hostility" to the anti-war movement.

Probably another George Soros production.
Because they are probably correct. I'm not saying either way if the war is a good thing or a bad thing, but there is an inherent bias in the BBC reporting from the line. I much prefer the news on Channel 4, as it looks at things from both sides of the wire, and does it with much more passion too.
And to be fair, its hardly a shock if the BBC are pro-government is it? After all, its a government television station. You might not have known this across the pond though...
Check out Phillip Knightley's books, this will give you an insight into media coverage of war.

The BBC pro-government? That will come as great surprise to all the UK governments since WW2. . . . .
That bloody BBC is firmly on the side of pro war- anytime or anywhere. Those BBC folks will always be reporting the real statist facts, regardless of the sidesaddle simon-pure repercussions upon the global liberal/socialist community at large. Saul Alinsky could not do a better job...

Really? Try working for them, gives an insight.
You're kidding, right?
Is that why Tony Blair scolded them publically for their coverage of the Iraq war?
I hardly find the BBC "statist." I'd say I find them far less statist than even the US's National Public Radio (which is very left-leaning and often critical of anything conservative).
Yep, really.
{COUGH! COUGH! HYPERVENTILATE...WHEEZE...WHEEZE...GASP!}
WHAT??
yeah, really.
This could be an interesting discussion to follow if you guys would get a bit more substantive. (Morning, Allegra.)
Afternoon, Bahbah.
I'm not in a substantive mood. I'm swamped with work, sleep-deprived and so ready for R&R. (27 days.)
27 days must seem like a very long, long time. I hope you have great plans for that R&R. Katy Couric has just announced she is leaving NBC for CBS. How shall we survive. LOL. I heard Andy Roony this morning say that no one at CBS is happy about this. Nice welcome, eh? (I'm trying to add some content to this thread, however thin it may be.)
Oops, forgot to say the "substantive" comment wasn't directed at you, but rather at the two posters who seem to have some insight into the BBC and neither of whom are actually sharing any of it. Just the good morning was for you.
Think of the BBC as a political organisation with the standard "progressive" agenda - but which British people are forced to pay for. Its like NPR, only more influential.
The BBC defends the UK govt on its "progressive" platform, but is none too subtly anti-war. This criticism of it as being "pro-war" is a classic subterfuge/goal-post moving exercise mounted by ideological fellow-travellers, IMO.
I'll bet you are right about that.
Oh, no....when the count goes below 30 days, that's excitement time! Time goes quickly here. At lightning speed.
And ROFL on the Andy Rooney comment!
